It occurs to me that the more technology evolves, the faster it becomes, the better it becomes, the more fucking problems we have with it.
Allow me to expand on this. I used to have an old round-screened computer. It was back when Mac OS X had juuuust launched. I don't recall it giving me a single bit of trouble. Sure, it was a slow monstrosity, but it worked.
Next, I had my first laptop, which I'm fairly certain is bigger then my personal TV. You know how much trouble it gave me? At the end of it's life[footnote]Or rather, my usage of it.[/footnote], the internet connection stopped working. That's it.
Second laptop--which is actually portable! I downloaded World of Warcraft out of curiosity when my hard drive just stopped working about ten minutes in. Thankfully. We had to get it replaced. Then, the internet connection stopped working. I said, "Not this shit again," and broke the screen (by accident) in my frustration. We got a cable to connect it to my TV. So a while later, the browsers--Safari and FireFox--started crashing the entire computer, which I'm pretty sure is because I pissed off a few Kingdom Hearts fanwhores.
I'm now on my third laptop, which I just got back today. The graphics card fucked up. Thankfully, it was a common problem with the model, and we got it replaced for free. (My first instinct was to go watch porn upon getting it back. Go figure.)
For discussion, what are your thoughts on technologies constant stream of new obstacles? Do you have any stories about your bad luck with computers?
