Recently a friend of mine (who is an avid Lady Gaga fan) made me watch the music video for 'Telephone'. My only real response to said video is "WTF?".

Seriously? What the fuck? What's up with the music industry these days?

Watching this video was probably the closest thing to porn on youtube I've seen. It's got the bad music in the background and everything...

So my question is this. What do you think of the music industry these days? Is it too focused on the sex appeal?

EDIT: Ok, I didn't mean that it was sexy, I mean it's.. well frankly I think it's gross. Not sexy. It's like the producers of the video are trying to show as much of that woman's body as possible, now I'm fine with showing some skin, but this was just... excessive. In my opinion at least :/

Let the proles enjoy their feed. Pop music vidoes are for idiots who can't find the many, many free porn sites the internet has.

The promotion that video gave for the song was unreal, it got to Number 1 in the U.K, I'm not sure about other countries but i know it did well.

You people clearly have no understanding of Lady GaGa. She is an entity beyond your feeble comprehension-- a personification of the titanic force of modern media; an elemental embodiment of an absurd culture.

Telephone is a revolutionary work of art-- it addresses the crisis of our diminishing sense of individuality as society as a whole is gradually infiltrated and suffused with unnatural levels of connectivity.

I happened to stumble a review (rather a pair, for that and paparazzi) by a gent who seems to feel that the videos have to do with the Illuminati and mind-control and all that pizzazz, and cite things out of them.

I hated it the first time I watched it for all the blatant product endorsements and the fact that it has pretty much no relation to the song, but it seems to have grown on me- I watch it now and then for chuckles.

Edit- Since I completely missed the topic- the music industry is changing, as it always has. Even though, what Gaga is doing isn't entirely new- have you ever watched Madonna videos? I may not agree with what the industry as a whole is doing, but there are enough individual artists I like that I just focus on them. Everyone has their own tastes, there are people who hate the telephone video and people who love it, as with ... Ke$ha *shudders* and her stuff.

Also, have you gone to a beach in America lately? You see about as much womens' skin there as in Gaga videos. Society as a whole is losing its clothing and modesty values (but that's a topic for another day).

Yep its all tits and arse.
Gaga is just another tart thats hit on the original idea of flashing some skin to sell some records.
Cause I mean if these chicks had any talent they'd be busy writing songs and honing their musical skills right.
