These must not take nearly as much time or effort to make as most other games... That or Telltale has suddenly become a massive developer. I didn't like The Walking Dead that much but The Wolf Among Us is of to a fantastic start. ASOIAF based game from them would be awesome. It's pretty much the perfect setting to have this type of game.

There had better be a couple walks through the betrayal garden. Won't feel like GOT without it.

Wait... WILL MY CHARACTER SURVIVE THE FIRST CHAPTER!?!?!?
Not only will you character always get the "short end of the stick", despite which choices you made throughout... but will also "die" in a way that would be "just a flesh wound" compared to the later episodes... (It will be 4 hours you could never take back... LOL)

OT: No matter how this turns out...

1. It would probably be better than the PS3/360 GoT game, in terms of overall gameplay... (Can't really bet on that happening, though...)

and

2. I would be buying all of the episodes on their Day 1 releases...

Wow, Yahtzee's analysis of Telltale being a 1-man conservation effort of *insert item here* is very accurate.....

OT: Great, an ASOIAF game that has the potential to be good, although I still would have preferred an RTS game wherein you play one of the specific houses and war / plot / diplomatic marriage your way to victory.

*Sigh* Oh well. Looks like loose book-to-game adaptation will do for now. They have A LOT of plot to sift through so at least they won't run low on source material.
I have just the thing for you it is called Crusader Kings II and there is a Game of thrones mod for it that works just the way you want only it is turn based.
You can read about how it plays here http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/06/30/playing-the-game-of-thrones/

I believe the a Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings 2 is just exactly what you're looking for, except it's turn base rather than being an RTS (how would a RTS marriage work anyway unless you're playing as a Frey?)

This excites me far beyond anything Telltale can put out. And cosndiering i recently bought CK2 on steam (now if only i had time to play it!) this is even more amazing.

Up next Telltale games announces Breaking Bad spin-off focusing on the trials and tribulations of "Better Call" Saul.

They've become the new golden boy of video games. Well deserved, I just hope they can sustain their level of proficiency over all this big profile titles.
While I'll agree that they're being held up highly, I'm still not sure this is a good thing. For a long time they were a niche developer that most people did not know of. They made games that ranged from poor to relatively alright and they kept themselves at a modest level. The Walking Dead just so happened to click with so many people that now I'm scared that they may be getting a bit too ambitious. I'm scared that they'll be stretching too thin looking at how they now have 4 games on the go for 2014 as opposed to their previous 1 per year.

I just hope I get my Episode 2 of The Wolf Among Us soon and not have the whole thing brushed aside for more well known video game/tv tie in games.

Now, I had zero interest in the Borderlands announcement (if it looks good, maybe I'll buy it once it hits the sales shelves or something) but THIS I can get behind! Make it good Telltale, I've got faith in you!

They have a good record with TWD S1 and now TWAU and TWD Season 2 which I bet will be good so I'm very looking forward to both the Borderlands game specially the GoT one.

Still hoping for a GoT RPG from CDPR which will never happen but still.

Regardless, I welcome all your games with open arms Telltale!

Oops, sorry, someone already recommended. But it really is excellent!

Ok this is getting silly. Wolf Among Us, Walking Dead season 2, Borderlands and now Game of Thrones? Exactly how is Telltale handling all of this at once? Don't get me wrong, I'll probably buy all of them...but still.
I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Walking Dead was my favorite game of 2012 and Wolf Among Us is off to a fantastic start (and I say that as a huuuuuge Fables fan). I love the Game of Thrones books and I'm really curious to see what Telltale can do with that universe.
Oh yeah they'll be good. I'm just concerned that it's going to take forever for them to come out. Speaking of which, when's episode 2 of Wolf Among us coming out?
if it takes forever to come out that's no big deal. i mean, fans waited six years for A Dance With Dragons

There are so many other stories to tell in the ASOIAF universe, and I highly doubt they'll just be retelling the main story of the show/books. Same with what they did for the Walking Dead.

I think there's a mod for Crusader Kings 2 that does that, if you hadn't heard already, might want to look into it as I hear it's very good.

OT: I'm wondering where/when they'll set it. They'll want to include a lot of choices so I imagine, similar to all their other recent games, they'll set it somewhere far away from the main continuity of the property it's based on, and only connect it by having characters from the books (probably Tyrion, let's be honest) appear in cameo roles. Or at least if we are playing as an established character, it'll be set in some period of their life that hasn't been explored properly yet. I have faith in Telltale to get it right, anyway.

I recall with Season 1 of The Walking Dead that the second episode was a long wait as well, but after that the following episodes moved along at a decent pace. I hope in the case of The Wolf Among Us this is the case.

Well.. We DID give them a whole lot of walking dead cash. Maybe they can manage this many games.

with city management and decisions at the ground level, forcing you to build your house's power while balancing the number of soldiers you call against the number of farmers you need to produce enough food for your lands to survive the long winter...

*sigh* a man can dream.

On the subject, I'm kind of torn. My limited experience with telltale has been positive, but they kind of told a seperate story with "the walking dead." that worked well with that source material, but would be a bit more tricky with ASOIAF, where connection to the characters is as important as the setting. I'd have a hard time getting into a game based around original characters in westeros... though honestly as long as there was a five second cameo by Jaime Lannister at some point I'd probably be happy.

(Impressed whistle) I might actually be tempted to delve into the Game of Thrones universe with this. Though from the glimpses I've had of the TV series, the entire point of said universe is that everyone is a back-stabbing scumbag: Telltale Games have to have at least one likable character, even if they do get killed off in short order!
