So, the other day my wife and I were driving to school and we got behind a really slow moving truck. Other cars started passing both the truck and us. After the fourth or fifth car had passed us, I began to doubt my sanity, I mean really doubt my sanity no joking, and had to wonder if there was really a truck in front of me or if I was seeing things. I turned to my wife and asked her if she could see a white truck in front of me. She kind of gave me a look that said she thought I was joking, and said it was time for my meds. Now I dont take any medication so she was obviously joking herself, but that made me wonder if perhaps I did take medication and had somehow blocked it all out. Needless to say I asked her if she was serious and she laughed again and said I was too funny.
SO I guess the question I'm trying to ask is this: Have any of you had a moment where you doubt you sanity, for real, and what happened?

Well, people tell me that the clown in my closet isn't real, but he is! WHY WON'T ANYONE BELIEVE ME?
I believe you! Here *hands shotgun and 8 shells* Take this and help me rid the world of the clown menace.
I think that you should start taking some meds Mr. elbryan. And to answer your question, yes I have questioned my sanity before. I came to the conclusion that I was very sane and that everyone besides me was insane.

Every once in a while I get it.

Then once I'm out of it I scold myself for being so completely irrational and carry on with my day.

I can't believe how silly I just was. There probably wasn't even a thread about doubting your sanity... snap the fuck out of it...

Oh wait. Yeah there was....

ASK HER AGAIN! I MUST KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME OF THIS STORY IS!

Maybe your wife gives you your meds without you realising; like in your cereal in the morning and a beer at night...

...maybe its happening to me too. Am I even really typing on a keyboard now?

I go mountain/hill climbing at reasonably regular intervals, climbed Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scaffel Pike and not once got scared of the height (I'm quite bad with man-made buildings however, but strangely not flying) or anything else.

Then one time a couple of years ago, we were climbing this relatively small, easy-to-climb hill on holiday, and as we were nearing the summit I started freaking out, convinced that if I didn't move between cover I'd be blown off the hill-face. I knew I was being totally irrational, but I just couldn't get over the feeling. So I just scrambled very quickly to the top (still moving from cover to cover/staying very low to the ground), touched the summit, swiftly came back down and took cover in a 'shelter' in some rocks. Then my sister twisted her ankle and I had to help her down, which took my mind off it, but I was all fine then.

Temporary insanity is quite worrying.

Many people may have one or two scattered schizophrenic episodes in their lifetime.

Ive sort of zoned out and ask myself "Is this real?" over and over, and try and look at things around me and see whats making them work like that. Say like a bird flying id be thinking, "how would I code that" or "what sort of technology would do that" and all thats fine (abit weird because everything important around me is blocked out and people need to nudge or say my name afew times).

Its just in these periods if look at myself and then im like "ok, what the fuck made me, where am I going, whats my point, if I open me whats in there, why am I thinking like this, whats making me be able to think..." ect ect. I get a sensation of "white" (dont know how else to describe) and then get all zen and then snap out of it.

Its only happened afew times, but I zone out into thought quite alot, which then leads to that sometimes.

TL;DR: Im not mental. Just think too much.

I often forget what im doing(while doing it(its in my hands)) and where I am. I do hear alot of things and I see shadows swoosh by me alot. Sometimes I do experience similar things as to what you decribed.

Sometimes I zone out so far for so long, that I forget I am a human in a body, and seem to think I'm some kind of floating eye that just observes objectively. It is the most calming feeling I have ever felt.

Everyone questions their sanity, since your mind can play tricks on you.

"Everyone is insane, some just hide it better then others" - I forget the auther of this

YES! Once, I stepped on something sharp in my room, and when I looked at my foot it was all cut up and ferociously bleeding. I then panicked and limped to my living room as quickly as I could. I then began screaming that my foot was bleeding and for them to call 911. My dad then looked at me with a bewildered look on his face, then he got up to look at my foot. When I looked back at it, my foot was fine and I was very embarrased.
