I remember watching it as a kid, was pretty good. Can't remember which version of it I watched though, it either started as Tenchi Muyo and then changed its name to Tenchi Universe or vise versa. I really can't remember. May have to watch it again.

It had it's moments, but for the most part it was as cringeworthy as every other harem anime out there.

I generally liked Tenchi Muyo, except for the character of Tenchi himself. He's probably my most hated anime character.

I did like the science magicalness to everything in it though.

Meh. I prefer Tenchi Universe (the TV series). It has a more consistent plotline. Plus Ryoko wins in the end.

Am I the only one who didn't hate Tenchi in Tokyo? Seemed like a good story with a emphasis on

a healthy two way relationship and the effect it had on the other cast members. Heck, I didn't

even mind the ending.

Yup I LOVE it so much that it's in my top 10 favourite animes of all time. I love it since it kind of taught me about the love/ affection side to anime (pretty much my first harem anime) during the time we got animes like Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing. I also own the dvds (both Muyo and Ryo Ohki) and the three films. Oh and Ryo is my favourite from that show.
I guess it's my favourite franchise since I had seen Tokyo, Universe and that GXP Spin off. The only Tenchi related series I haven't watched is the one with mechs in it and Magical Sasami spin off too.

I remember watching it as a kid, but I haven't seen it since.

I'm already rewatching stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin, so maybe I'll go back and watch it again.

I used to watch it on Toonami. I just talked to my fiancé about watching it together. We've been watching a lot anime together. The old anime, too.

I think I'm more of a fan of the older anime like Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, Berserk..etc.

I generally avoid harem animes like the plague, even the famous ones like Tenchi Muyo or Love Hina. They're just generally not all that good. I've seen a lot of anime(as you can see here [http://myanimelist.net/animelist/zenron]) and I've never really found all that much of that genre which is actually intelligently written. Most of it is just pandering and mindless.

only bad part is 'in Tokyo'. so much wrong with it .....

other wise, the OVAs and Universe are gold

I actually really liked it as a kid back when it was on Cartoon Network, I got back into it about a year ago and managed to find the old DVDs and even watch some of the spin off series. I really enjoyed re-watching it and checking out the spin offs but in retrospect I kind of wish I hadn't spent all that money on the DVDs when I could've watched it online for free. I probably could've made better use of that money, but oh well, live and learn I guess.

Still, it was a pretty good series, I thought.

yep i enjoyed pretty much every anime in Tenchi Muyo universe.
