Since I watched Terminator Genisys I have a craving for Terminator-related games. Unfortunately, anything official is somewhere between terrible and mediocre.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a game or a mod that was inspired, or is similar in any significant way to the Terminator films.

The only games I can think of at this particular moment are Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon (which I'm currently playing through) and Binary Domain (which I've already finished).

Have you played T2: the arcade game? Best Terminator game ever made.

Do you have a Sega Genesis lying around per chance?
There's a SNES version too, but I'm pretty sure it's a bit different and not rated as well.

There's a fan made game, an FPS post-apocalypse called FPS Terminator over at Moddb [http://www.moddb.com/games/fps-terminator]. Sadly the game is quite buggy as it's still in Alpha and now vapourware.

I wanted to try it but I forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder.

The screenshots looks awesome. Too bad they won't finish it.

I know of a few good Terminator games I have played, though they will be hard to get. The old T2 Arcade (I played it on SNES) is great fun, as is T3 Redemption for PS2 and Xbox. There was a Terminator Battlefield 2 knock off called War Of The Machines that wasn't great, but made just about playable with mods and has bot support. There's also that free Terminator FPS somebody mentioned.

Terminator mods? Hmmm... Really aren't many unfortunately. Best I can think of was a pretty cool Terminator Doom mod I found. Pretty recent, last update was January though still somewhat incomplete and unsure if development has stopped. Has a full arsenal and custom enemies though. Check it out:

As an aside, I would totally love an Xcom style Terminator game, with you on the resistance side building up your forces, or maybe even a Skynet campaign trying to destroy the humans.

Massive Attack for Far Cry. Very Russian. Very weird. Very hard. It's a mashup of Red Faction and Resident Evil and Aliens and Terminator and Metal Gear Solid and System Shock 2.

I recall that halfway through a recreation of Metal Gear Solid's first level, you start encountering terminators, and then have a fight against the T-1000 in a foundry.

For some years now I've been thinking about taking the guy's work and brushing it up to make it more user friendly and less "screw you, pleb" difficult. Also, to fix the awful translation into English.

I actually bought it and completely forgot about it. I never played through that DLC. Thanks for the reminder.

There's an NES platformer/shooter called Journey to Silius [https://tcrf.net/Journey_to_Silius] that... well, its relationship to The Terminator isn't completely clear. Some say the developers lost the license, some say the developers couldn't afford the licenses to both Batman and Terminator, but basically it started production as a Terminator game then was changed into a game about a kid shooting robots.

It's by the developers of the NES Batman game, so if you were into that you might check it out. And if you like Blaster Master, it shares a lot of the aesthetic. And if nothing else, the soundtrack is awesome.

Captcha: blood sugar. Well, the Terminator was bloody, but I don't know about sugar...y.
