I saw Terminator Salvation last night and ended up arguing with my friends, the whole ride home, because I couldn't grasp the fact that the Terminator T800 was not Arnold Schwarzenegger but, in fact, a CG rendition.

Well, obviously I was wrong. I looked it up and I roughly learned that, using one of his original body doubles as well as a clay model of his face (both from his early years), they recreated him in on computer.

Absolutely mind blowing what can be done with CG these days.

Cheaper than make up on some of those old timers I guess...
though... did he get paid for his likeness?

Seriously you didn't think that was CGI - he didn't even look like That in T2 - even with that thing that makes them look younger he don't look like that

No it wasn't CG. It was special effects. They used a body double and a clay mask. That is not CG(Computer Generated). Just your standard run of the mill special effects.

Yeah that bit amused me. You'd think they'd hear that or maybe see a big fucking head poking over the top of the building.

Really? Awww. I thought the clay model of his face was scanned in to make a CG rendition. Man, what a bummer. Shame on you! Blowin' my buzz.

Yes! I must say, whatever anyone says about the movie, the action sequences involving the machines were legend. Not just in the sense of well done special effects like Transformers, but if you consider how intimidating that walker was, the sound it makes, the fact that it's near indestructible and that you can't run from it or hide from it or kill it.

Also, don't forget the bikes XD

I turned around and said that to my friend after it happened. I couldn't get how they didn't hear or see it considering they were in the middle of a desert.
