I've never heard of this game, why is this so?
Because you don't use Steam? If you do use Steam (regularly), then you're clearly living under a rock. Terraria was huge when it came out, so any amount of time on Steam a year or two ago (I forget when it came out) and it was impossible to NOT know about Terraria. If you don't use, or don't spend much time on Steam, then yeah... easy to have missed it.

So anyway, how are they going to handle the very point-and-click-heavy interface? This isn't like with Minecraft where most stuff is done via aiming in first person with just some simple changes to the crafting menu needed. This is a game where the very interface is point-and-click. Having to move around with one stick while having to move a cursor with a second feels like it'd be very cumbersome.

Well that is nice to see I guess. but I don't have any desire to buying Terraia again just to see the new content and I question how the hell the controls for Terraia on a controller would work properly. I am interested in the so called "huge" update for Terraia on the pc though.

I personally stop playing Terraia a while ago. I have not beaten hardmode due to getting the best gear requires beating the 3 hardmode bosses multiple times. 11 boss fights at minimum and 18 boss fight at the max to get all the best equipment and that's assuming one does don't die during any of them. Also you have to kill a bunch of regular enemy's to get the materials(random loot drops) needed make one the one time use objects that summon the bosses and if you die in a boss fight the you have make another boss summon object. that's pretty fucking dull and bit too grindy IMO.

Before running out of interesting things to do in hardmode and pre-hardmode I was really having fun playing the game. I put lots hours into the game and got a lot of entertainment for the the small amount of money. At this point it's 75% off($2.50) on steam so now is a great time to buy it.

Anyone hyped about Starbound?
until a game is released I have no way of knowing if it's better then any other in game existence that is already released. There are countless examples of games that looks really good; then it turns of out to suck and/or not meet up to the hype what so ever.
I am very mildly optimistic and curious but not hyped.

Don't care

Lets talk about better game
Anyone hyped about Starbound?
I've been following its development since Redigit (Spinks) threw up his hands and went "I've made my fortune. I'm done." early last year. It's right at the top of my most anticipated games list, just above Shadowrun Returns.
Funny how Red decided to develop new content around the same time Starbound started coming together.

But as for Starbound itself...everything I've seen from the streams, pics and demos shows it just looks amazing.
Literally like Terraria x20, and I love me Terraria a lot.

Tiy* announced that pre-orders would be starting soon for Starbound, so hopefully this means they're actually close to launch.

loot = bad motive
Hardmode is definetly more challenging, if you want something new from your Terraria experience try playing a mediumcore character seriously, it's something completely different, even harder that Dark Souls :D
How to endure the "grind" of harmode: A buddy always helps, but also you need to start actually caring about getting hit, because shit HURTS! With that aspect now you have to mine and collect souls in the renovated depths. Also the loot is now in mimics or you have to craft it on your own. The hardmode bosses are a different challenge too, they might require different tactics and planning.

But mostly it comes down to you mindset and motivation, I made it and had a blast doing it, I'd do it again.

I can't help but ask myself how they will do ranged weapons, the enemies do fly predictably, but the direction is very very specific and the controls are very sensitive, not to mention the arrow fall-down curve. Even though I personally love that aspect and the Repeaters/Crossbows are bloody awesome, that's what I used to beat the bosses with my buddy, who used magic instead.
I can guarantee you that A will be jump, LS will be move, and RS will be aim. It will be impossible to do all 3 things at once on a gamepad. So no jumpdodgeaiming the bosses. Good luck with that.

Now the harp, that will be interesting. I'm sure your control of it will depend on the amount you push the stick, but the subtle changes to the degree you push it is going to cause massive changes to the effects of the item.

I'm interested to see how they make precisely mining 16x16 pixel squares not horrible with a game pad.

I've played a couple hours of it now, and there are two ways to mine. The first is a kind of auto-aim, you aim with the right stick and it mines all the blocks in the area of where you are pointing, block by block. The second is free aim, you point the cursor at the block you want to mine and you mine it. You switch between the two modes by pressing R3 (This is on the PS3, clearly).

In the PS3 version at least, you can jump by pressing X or L3, so I can't see why it wouldn't be any different on the 360 version... Having two jump buttons, that is.

Has anyone else had connection issues? I keep having trouble after a connection is lost where it won't allow the us to connect again for a while after.

Other wise the game is basically the same as the PC version the controls just take a bit to get used to and the new menu systems too.
