I tried playing Uncharted to see what the buzz was about. I was disappointed to find out that it is fairly crap in the story and gameplay departments.
Killzone 2 is a generic FPS, while GoW is a generic TPS.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a rushed out sequel which ruined pretty much everyhing the first game stood for. And then promptly ruined the first game, giving all the content to people who owned Left 4 Dead 2.
The only Call of Duty that didn't suck was Modern Warfare.
Team Fortress 2 got ruined by microtransactions (some might not share this point of view).
Counter Strike was pretty bad from when it came out years ago.
I find it hilarious the amount of people have missed the point of this thread. Clearly people have just read the title and not the OP and just came in belting out AAA game they hate.

Hmm... I guess Starcraft 2 was snubbed by the majority of the South Korean audience because it wasn't as tournament friendly as SC1.

Most if not ALL AAA games or series are literally just feeding fans, being a argonian, you should notice this in Oblivion, it will play back for fans. Don't you think this thread is getting a little silly, I mean there is actually very bad games that are horrible to play like Deus Ex: Invisible War, Kane and Lynch 2 and Daikatana
I won't even put Final Fantasy 13 and Dragon Age 2 on that list becuase although I disliked them I know a lot of people enjoyed them.
By listing the game that you personally don't like becuase of preference you are clouding the issue of actual 'bad' games. I think the problem is that actual bad games are forgotten very easily.

i disagree. i watched some gameplay video, and it surprisingly looked pretty good, one just has to throw away the "it's XCOM, it's supposed to be a strategy game!!!" approach (and all the x-com world facts with it). it's got the name only because creating "new franchise" is so "risky" these days...individual11 said:

On a serious note, I think a good half of your list is based on personal dislike as opposed to whether it has any merit as a game.

I'm sure many will agree with me that for their price point and publicity, most of us that played these games loved them and did not feel like we wasted our money. Sure there are flaws, all games have them, but for a game to be liked despite them shows that there's something even better within.
Dante's Inferno, on the other hand... why Visceral wasted their talents and ad budget on that garbage I have no idea. It raped both Dante Alighieri and God of War.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP, but if I'm not, then I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on quite a few of the posts in this topic (get your brooms!).

Granted, in the end it's even harder to answer that question as there isn't as solid of a way to quantify what gamers universally think. Like someone early on in here mentioned StarCraft II in a list. I've heard that some gamers didn't like the lack of LAN support, but I've never honestly heard any true hatred for it. Quite a lot of praise, actually. So I'm not really sure where the person who posted that was coming from, other than possibly personal disappointment.

Its not that it doesn't have discussion value, its just that the discussion value decreasing per post.
Near universal? Nope. Nothing is near universal for gamers except maybe that Superman 64 sucked and so did ET. (Even that is really only agreed on by people who have heard of the games).
