The final boss on Prototype. You're going to make him have shit loads of health? Sure, this isn't Wii Sports. You're going to make him deal shit loads of damage to me? Well, he is the final boss. An instant kill move? That's harsh. And those enemy troops don't help either.

Wait...

You're throwing in a time limit? With no checkpoints?

Fuck you. Fuck you so much.
It's so funny you brought that up, because I made a thread using that example about hard final boss battles.

Seriously, that was an insanely difficult level. I only finished it on normal with 1.2 seconds left. Heart was racing.

Vampire: Bloodlines. That goddamned arse of a sewer level, on the way to find the Nosferatu.

It's boring, confusing, padded to all hell and you're under constant attack from those Tzimisce head-with-leg things, and only rats for blood supply.

Ventrue playthrough of that section was the least fun I've ever had playing a game.
The warrens! argh i'd forgotten about that one. if you're melee and don't have a lot of stealth points, which I was in my play through, its like a cross continent ride on the paintrain. of course if you're ranged I'd imagine the first part with just the head-leg things would be rly hard. Anticipation of the warrens is the only thing thats keeping me from replaying that thing. I'm thinking getting 8 stealth would be the only way to do that part well. (I'm told the monstrosities down there have very bad eyesight.) Any tips on how to beat that part easily?
Nosferatu own at that stage ironically. You'll never run out of blood down there since rats give Nos 3 blood points instead of 1. They also have invisibility (malkavians have it too), so level it up until you can run while invisible. You should power level it ASAP anyway, level 5 is just so epic. You can buy the Anaconda from the 7-11 dude, so fill up on that and shotgun ammo as well.

The libary from Halo CE? seriously the fact people hate this are just mad, it was great it perfectly changed the balance of the entire game you had got used to 1 minute your relying on cover, next minute you cant due the Ai is as simple as "charge the chief"
The problem wasn't the Flood; I admit that they are an entertaining enemy to fight. The problem was that the entire level was padded to hell and it got repetitive FAST. You fight the same enemies, in the same dull environment, over and over and over (and over). it wouldn't be a bad level if it was either more varied or about a third as long, but as it stands it feels like a grindfest to rival most MMOs.

The one with Rogue in Sonic Adventure 2 where you had to find the three Chaos Emerald pieces in a time limit. Those levels are okay, if momentumm breaking, but that just crosses the line.

Not sure if you want to count Killer Croc on Arkham Asylum, but I do. Also as previously mentioned No Mercy on l4d.

The fishing part in Nier, it took over an hour to catch that fish because no one would tell me I was at the wrong beach.

The Meat Circus level from Psychonauts.
Oh god, it is terrible. Having to defend the idiotic Little Oly and failing over and over again. Repetative grind from having to do that acrobatics bit where a glitch keeps causing you to fall through the platforms you land on.... frustrating boss battles.
I'm sorry but I had almost no fun in this level save for the very last battle. Everything else about it was painful.

And this was the LAST LEVEL of the game. So basically after all the fun I'd been having, my last memory of the game was overbearingly negative. Still, I beat the game so I'm happy.

The final colossus in SoTC. Despite being an epic boss battle, having to climb back up that thing over and over again just gave me the uncontrollable urge to turn off the PS2 and collapse into the fetal position.

The Penumbra Black Plague was pretty good, it fit the mood, it was only in the game briefly and it was a large point for the games story. Although I must agree, I was thinking of a bunch of sewer levels and most of them sucked.

I can't really recall too far back about a bad level in game so i will just recall the games I have been played recently.

Penumbra Overture: One level, one particular sodding level annoyed me so much. There is a part when you have to blow up the side of the cave to escape another cave, this fine except how you have to do it is absolutely "Pants on head retarded" A level or more prior to blowing up the cave you have to pick up a certain note that is hidden somewhere, I didn't pick it up which forced me to restart the entire game so I could go and get it. The note was about chemicals and one specific one called Baxitrin which is highly explosive, later in the game you find some baxtrin and then later some more you find a barrel of gun powder. What get's me is that you have to break the barrel of DANGEROUS gun powder and let it hit the ground, find some string from some shelves, roll the string in the Baxitrin then roll the new Baxitrin covered string in the gun powder, carry the string which is now a fuse down a dark and scary cave, past a dog which will 3 hit kill you, over to a barrel of gasoline, move the gasoline barrel into a specific part of the mine and then put the fuse in the barrel and light the fuse on fire with a lighter... If you miss almost anything of what I just told you, you will have to load a save and do the shit all over again. Also you need the aforementioned note to now how to use the Baxitrin, because your character, who is a Physicist and a University teacher I might add can't read a bottle of chemical to see if it was explosive!
