Here's a pic from Utøya. I don't know if the people in this picture are dead or alive, but it is censored so I fear the worst.

...
Someone needs to hunt these fucking evil bastards down.

That's horrible... The eyewitness said there were dead people lying at the coast of island, so yes, I am afraid they are dead.
I don't want to believe it. Why the children, for fucks sake why the children.

He showed up in a gray minivan and a police uniform, something should have rung in security's head.

The picture was given the title "Mange døde(Many dead)" so it was expected...

Seriously, why attack a YOUTH camp, it makes me sad. :(

This is a propensity that simply does not exist in Western Christian culture. And that's what you seem to fail to grasp.
It doesn't happen a lot in Western Civ because most of Western Civ is currently at peace. During times of conflict, you'll find it happens a lot more, like during WW2, or in Chechnya, or in Balkanized Yugoslavia. Suicide attacks happen when there is conflict, and most conflicts are happening in places where Islam is... that's the only connecting factor.

My entire point is that there's no reason to believe the horrible tragedy in Oslo has anything to do with Islam, just because it involved a bomb. The gunman was apparently Scandanavian. Perhaps it's the usual sort of terrorism: Anti-government protest.

It's sad, and it is abhorrent, but so far, it has nothing to do with religion by any evidence we have.

They are on an island, right?

There's no good end to it, though. If they are killed or kill themselves, it's senseless, if they get dragged before a court, it's a painful circus.

Would you have denied a police officer to check on the safety on a large gathering during a possible terrorist attack?

Well it was a political youth camp.

As an American, I don't know what that is, but it makes all sorts of creepy alarm bells go off in my head. So it shouldn't be surprising that someone crazy objects too.

The gunman is arrested, he's been in police custody for two hours now at least.

I suppose this leaves me with one question... Why Norway? What did THEY do?
I'm gonna guess this is some kind of interNorwegian conflict.

Possibly politically motivated.

Well my day just took a dip downward. It is going to be quite a while before we know more, so for now let's keep our thoughts and prayers on those injured and those who just lost friends and family.

I love how some people are already pointing to terrorists when all the news channels are saying that the norway authorities don't know what has caused the explosion yet. Reminds me of the first line of the muse song 'uprising'.
An act like this is an act of terrorism, caused by terrorists. It still doesn't name who or what.

I've been on vacation. I drived past Oslo yesterday, on my way home, and was home at midnight. The day after, there is chaos in Oslo. A bomb goes off, shooting in a camp for young members of a political group.

I have friends which is staying in Oslo at the moment (None I know is harmed). I am glad that my parents chose not to stay in Oslo yesterday.

A bomb is bad enough, but shootings on youth... Why is peace so hard? Why can't we all get along? Those in Oslo have my condelences.

Norway police says the death count at Utøya is exaggerated, they say no more than ten, around ten. "Utøya", by the way, means "Outer Island", so when people go "Utøya Island", they're really saying Outer Island Island...

In Romania, the Roma are subjected to terrorist attacks by rightwing thugs armed with grenades and and assault rifles. Meanwhile, a party with a blatantly racist anti-Roma platform gets over 9% of the vote.
That's so not true and you should check your sources ! The only parties in the Romanian parliament at the moment are PDL(democratic-liberal) , PSD(socialist) , PNL(liberals ) , PC(conservatives) and UDMR( the hungarian minority party) . We also offer a seat in parliament to all minorities(even small ones like the italian minority) and Roma children get help in order to continue their study up to high school and beyong (university) , not our fault they prefer most times to go stealing . Also , the hungarian minority party is in the government , just saying , we arent't exactly a extremist country...

Wait... we are all talking about muslim terrorists.
The attacker was nordic, maybe he was just psycho.
Columbine had no religious or political connection but had their bombs gone off we might have seen worse.
A lone adult could definitely do this without backup and with "a few household chemicals"

Why alarm bells? It's just a voluntary camp kids go to with a political focus. This one was special because Gro Harlem Brundtland was supposed to do a speech there. She's an ex-prime minister.

Yes, he showed ID. He's held in custody by the police and they've recognised him and saying that he may possibly be linked to the bombings.

The Utøya shooter has been linked to the bomb in Oslo, and he is of Nordic appearance.
Could nationalists be behind this?

Not sure about this but I don't think police in Norway is required to use a police vehicle, and he had identification
