Sir Terry sadly lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease. Many people here have read and enjoyed his 70 novels that last been completed in summer 2014

Farewell you will be missed

That's pretty sad.

I actually got a text about 10 minutes before from a friend telling me. :c

Depressing news, I'm a massive fan of the Discword series, this has me really upset.

My heroes are starting to die off.

Though I have not read the majority of Discworld (only up until Soul Music), Terry Pratchett is already one of my favourite writers. I am extremely saddened to hear of his passing, though it would seem that it was peaceful, at least.

Ah, hells, I think it's high time I got back to reading the series.

Amen to that. I can't remember how far I got, but I always loved them.

At the very least, I'll probably be reading the graphic novel of Guards! Guards! that's in my bedroom tonight.

Well shit. I know it's been coming for a while but it still sucks. Gonna be weird trying to read his stories now that I know there will never be another. I'm currently reading 'The Long War' which is the second book in the Long Earth Trilogy written with Stephen Braxton. I'd highly recommend it.

I've only read a few of his books, but I really liked what I read, I should get around to reading more.

Now I'm depressed.

He was one of my favorite authors, heck he gave Death a voice and personality.

He gave birth to an interesting planet full of character and personality, full of interesting cities and people as well.

Well at least he gets to meet Death in person and I hope they are having a nice cup of tea before he heads off to his next destination.

You will be missed dear sir.

:(

I remember the day I first encountered one of Terry Pratchett's books. It was Interesting Times - I was over at a friend of mine for coffee and was looking at his book collection - he saw that and immediately offered me that book, because he said he was sure I'd like it. And I did - a lot. When I returned it to him, he handed me Small Gods and...I was hooked then. I was still at school, with not a lot of spare money, however, I did receive an excellence scholarship. Which wasn't all that much, really - more symbolic than actual reward. Still, it was just about enough to buy several books - thankfully they were cheap, as well. So, over time, little by little, I've used all those money to get the majority of my collection. After I left school, I obviously didn't use that scholarship, but I did receive another one in Uni and continued the tradition for a while - get scholarship, acquire books.

Terry Pratchett has been an author driven by excellency. Doubly so for me, as it's what allowed me to get more of his books. I think that's how I want to remember him.

Farewell, my good sir.
