I wasn't targeting this test but instead targeting all personality tests in general. Also what exactly is your definition of socializing? Is meeting up with 20 people in an online chat room in Xfire technically being in a large social group or is it just talking with internet people? See there is one of the flaws being different points of view. Again a third fixed party is needed to make these more accurate.theklng said:that's why these are based on four different attribute pairs. you might be very popular for different reasons, but the test itself never says anything about popularity, it says something about how sociable you are. the "attitude" pair is linked to this exactly; whether you tend to keep to yourself or whether you need or want or like to talk to others. the notion of whether people appreciate your company is entirely ignored.
also, there are 16 different archetypes, divided into four different major groups that share some of the same characteristics.
naturally we have different definitions, but there will eventually be some common ground, or we'd be unable to communicate entirely. the discovery and popularization of the internet is a new one. personalities may vary over the internet as people tend to find that there are no limits, no boundaries. this test (among others) was created before the time of the internet, and may be obsolete in terms of online analysis. that was never the point of the thread, however. the point was to find out how many of what types were found on this forum.Mercanary57 said:I wasn't targeting this test but instead targeting all personality tests in general. Also since I need to loosen up a bit I'll just turn the argument into an advertisement for a game that populates the internet. Here goes.
Personality Test!

Features include:
--Making your own character!
--Belong to 4 Guilds!
--UP TO 16 LIFE LIKE CLASSES!
If you want I can edit that out.
Okay then I will agree with you on two things.theklng said:naturally we have different definitions, but there will eventually be some common ground, or we'd be unable to communicate entirely. the discovery and popularization of the internet is a new one. personalities may vary over the internet as people tend to find that there are no limits, no boundaries. this test (among others) was created before the time of the internet, and may be obsolete in terms of online analysis. that was never the point of the thread, however. the point was to find out how many of what types were found on this forum.
in other words: this test was supposed to reflect how you act in life, not how you act on the internet, as internet persona and normal personalities can be entirely different.
i disagree on the notion of astronomical signs. there's a reason why this test is widely employed in both recruiting and psychology. i could tell you what inherit difference there is in some people and what makes e.g. societies work the way they do (based off this test).SimuLord said:Myers-Briggs is only marginally more valuable than asking someone their astrological sign.
That said, I'm an INTP/Architect (funny how we tend to congregate on Internet message boards in far greater numbers than our representation in the population at large) and a Cancer.
Pardon *me* for actually using my *brain*. Isn't this a *spectactularly* poor way to collect data by any standards? I mean, you can't even claim random selection because the people who respond to the thread are self-selecting.theklng said:are you just hell bent on derailing this thread? you've done nothing but being a troll since your first post.
i had expected criticism for doing this; skeptics are everywhere and usually they think their judgment is final. there was a time where i actually cared about what people said, but i realized how much you would limit yourself by doing so. in other words, just because you have your opinion doesn't mean that it's "right" or "true", as far as subjective or logical comments go. keep in mind that i never said what i researched other than checking how much of an internet community is of a certain type; you have no idea on what or how i'm going to use these results.JMeganSnow said:Pardon *me* for actually using my *brain*. If this is what you call research, you *deserve* to be locked.
As for my type, I get something different every time I take a test of this type. The first time I took it some years ago, I was INTJ. The second time (at work), ENTJ. Now I'm ESFJ. Some test.
Funny story. At my colledge, they made us take this test when you started and when you finished your degree. When I started, I was and ESTJ, like you. When I finished 6 years later with and advanced degree in chemistry, I was an INTJ. Shows that college can really change you. The biggest change was the E to I. My last 3 years of colledge were spent studing all the fraking time. But it was worth it.Vaash Vincent said:Your Type is

it's not that weird really, with your 1% S, you're pretty close to being N. the test at first may give some more "extreme" results, but taking it numerous times will balance it out. it is very much dependent on the current state of mind.Sylocat said:Funny thing is, I've taken this test before, and I could have sworn I got an INFP.
Weird.
