I finally got the all, but would have never gotten 2, 4 or 5 if it weren't for your clues. I had never heard of 4, never noticed 5, and 2 was just really far fetched.
Quote me if you need any clues.
Any helpful hints for Number 5? I have been staring at that picture for the last hour and I still have no clue.

EDIT: Finally got #5. Man, you have to be very specific.

Finally managed it. I tell you what, I have never been sent in so many circles by a puzzle.

Number 3 is killing me. I get how to decode it, that was trivial. I'm just terrible at anagrams and may not know the game it's asking me to find.

Whew, got em! Good show, Escapist! You've made me realize I need to research more video games. Thank you.

There is a second, very subtle hint in the puzzle itself.

Look at all those "-"s!

I assumed the hyphens were acting as joins to the letters in two separate words. Perhaps I was wrong, will consider this hint.

edit: I got it now. I was correct in my assertion about the hyphens, I'm just terrible at anagrams lol.

You seem to be on the right track.
There aren't many words you can make with those letters. If you get the first (and it's in pretty much every third game), the rest will fall in.

I have just got number two after scratching my head for like half an hour over it. i feel ashamed considering the amount of clues on here and how obvious it is. But still, good job escapist, keep it up. Love the challenge

I got 2 through 5 on my own, with only a little bit of prodding from friends. But 1 was tough.

Curse my logical mind. Sometimes you just have to think in a more tactile way.

Got them all, I maintain that number 2 could probably stand to use a lot more instruction instead of just "here's some words". I likewise found the clue absolutely worthless. A directive is "a pronouncement encouraging or banning some activity" or "An instruction or guideline that indicates how to perform an action or reach a goal".

The only thing even remotely related in the clue is the word "cold" which you would only get if you played the game to it's end and I bet a lot of people haven't.

For anyone stuck on number two, I offer you the following clue: An Emergency

Some hints...

1:
Degrees doesn't just mean temperature.

2:
Cold doesn't just mean the opposite of warm.
Also, use a thesaurus.

3:
Cryptography 101.

4:
The number of letters in the game's name is pretty unlucky.
Linen and lace is something refined people wear. You certainly aren't going to wear any of that in this game.

5:
You need to watch more TV. Or read more of The Escapist. Or play more video games.

Here are some hints for all 5 questions, just for those still having trouble.

1:
The female robot from WALL-E if she was on the computer, or just tilt your head to the right.

Mod Note - There are hints, and there is bluntly telling

Got number 3 after using an anagram solver.
One step beyond!

And with that, I'm five for five.

Finished, with quite a lot of help from these solutions (with the exception of 2 and 5, which I got straight away). No wonder I had such trouble with 3 and 4. I had never heard of those games before, and had to consult the review lists to work them out.

Despite what people say, number 1 is not obvious at all. You have to think outside of the box with that one. Don't waste your time looking at what the actual letters and symbols mean, because the phrase "M being lesser than M" doesn't have anything to do with the solution.

Honestly, no. I say by Day 3 you want us all dead in a ditch.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Though after some cheating use of stuff I've managed it through day one.
How'd you cheat? Asking folks for help isn't cheating - we absolutely encourage you guys to give each other hints.

If things get too hard, we'll provide hints of our own. We want you to have fun, after all. :)
Well, I got lazy with the anagrams and such. As I'm not good with them anyway.
I viewed it as cheating as I'm not really putting the work in.
I did use the hints from the lovely people here though as well.
