Does anybody still play them?

I've tried playing Materia Magica, but I didn't get very far because all the text made me want to hurl.

Not sure about the newer ones but the older ones were very annoying puzzle wise like how the old King's quest games were. It wasn't the sheer amount of text I found annoying but the actual solutions, like time limits, havign to hae the right items for later on and you die etc...

If text adventure games were created like the later Lucas arts games instead then I can see them worth playing with being less fustrating.

Recently I've tried out the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure... and only succeeded in making myself more pissed at that game than any game I've ever played, even MW2.

Seriously, it was the first game I ever had to look up a strategy guide for since Monstro in Kingdom Hearts. It's a hilarious text game, but dammit, every single solution to every puzzle is so out in left field, it's unbelievable.

BTW I think Nier had a funny parody of text adventure games.

When a text adventure game wanted to pull a dick move it was a dick move the likes of which have never been replicated by the most insane of modern developers but yeah I like playing some of them every now and then.

There's a game called...Euclidys...or Eudlyics, or something similar that was produced for a HP Lovecraft game project. It's currently hosted over at a website called "The Commonplace Book". Or Illuminated Lantern or something.

It's been a long time since I've been there. Regardless, it's a very short text adventure that is just fucking -chilling-. I strongly encourage you all to find it.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

When Zork was announced as an Easter Egg in COD: Whatever I thought what a great idea, I'll play Zork for a bit. I could actually remember most of the right things to do.
