Text Editing for Art

I've been working on a comic book for around a year now, and something funky is going on with my artist's computer. He can't install Illustrator.

The only reason we were bothering with that program was because there are a lot of text editing options, and I don't know other programs that can do the same thing.

Are there any other programs that allow you to curve your text or do other cool stuff with it?

Corel Draw is very similar to illustrator, in fact I find some features to be much easier & simpler than Illustrator. It will take some playing around with to figure everything out, but it is a very good program. I'm a graphic artist & I use both programs all the time.
