All right, so since TF2 is free to play this weekend I downloaded it. At first it didn't run, and I went to the System Requirements Lab to see if it should work, and no my computer failed.

Well I went out and bought some extra RAM. I upgraded my computer from 512 MB of RAM to 4 GIG of it. I then relaunch TF2 to play. Everything is running fine until I join a match. As I enter the match, and see the Chalk Board saying Welcome ext. the audio starts repeating itself and the screen freezes. Then a pop up comes up saying that hl2.exe has stopped responding, and TF2 closes.

I reran the System Requirements Lab check and it says I should be able to run TF2 fine.

Any suggestions, or does any one know whats wrong? I'd like to play some TF2, I hate playing it on the 360.

I don't know, although I had that for a while then it just stopped.
Try offering your PC money. Mine works better when I give it money.

Try running it at a lower DX level. Go to your Steam game list, right click TF2, and select Properties. Under the General tab, select Launch options. Type in -dxlevel 80, and click ok. If it works, take out the -dxlevel 80 before you play the game next time.

Sound/Video drivers maybe?

I know it's the first thing everyone says but you haven't explicitly said you've made sure all your drivers are up to date. I hate major stability issues with it until I'd got my (Creativ) sound drivers up to date.

Do you have integrated graphics memory?
Because I had the exact same problem on my old laptop and you cant exactly fiddle about with them a lot.

So if you're getting the hl2.exe error then that could be the problem.

Hope that helped a bit.
