So let me get this straight... they're charging $0.99 every time you want to play the full version of Mann Vs. Machine? Dafuq, seriously. I paid for the stupid game before it went free to play. If they counted it as an expansion that you had to pay for once to get full access, I'd be all over it, but I'm not going to pay extra each time I want to access one of the game modes. That's Bobby Kotick "I want you to pay for bullets" levels of ridiculous.

No, only when you want to play the mode and be rewarded with the new vanity items. You can play MvM on normal servers and still get normal TF2 unlocks as per usual.

Mann Up is purely cosmetic items. All maps, achievements, and weapons are available without paying.

But you still miss out on the tours of duty, as noted in that FAQ. That's my problem. I don't give a crap about the hats, but I do care about the multi-level missions. I don't see why they can't separate the item dropping from access to the game mode.

I don't think the multi-level missions are any different from playing several games one after another. I would assume the Mann Up mode is nothing more than a set difficulty with a vanity reward at the end.

I just hope it doesn't put you back into a queue after you've played a map, because honestly, that'd be enough for me to completely disregard the game mode. Nobody likes waiting.
I bought a single ticket to see what Mann Up would be like however I dunno if its up and running yet. Compared to the regular MvM there are actually less options of maps/conditions to choose from and you don't have the option to choose "any map". Currently shows 960 empty servers and hundreds of people in queue but only queue # fluctuates and the empty servers keep increasing. Hopefully I can get 1 game in tonight.

Same here. Seems like Mann Up is broken right now, shows no single active/full games for me. Nothing but empty servers and several hundred people waiting in que to play.

Scrath that they suddenly went insane.

It's a long wait to get in the MvM servers. But it's not too bad when you have friends with you in Vent.

I got so tired of waiting I created my own server. I got my shit promptly pushed in by the hordes of robots, but it was fun while it lasted.

And I totally wish my computer wasn't making the "Failed to Connect after 4 retries..." I've tried a lot of things, and none of them work.

And my bro's computer (which can play it) is being occupied by the man himself, and I've got 1-8 stuff tomorrow to not be able to fix it. Oh, and then a week of band camp.
Captacha: How about that?

Yeah no point in even trying to get on anything. All the servers I normally go to are either down, empty, or locked by their admins so they can regulate who can play with them.

Also Mann Co. Store is dead, Item Servers are dead, the Co-op matchmaker is broken right now. There's just no point in even bothering to attempt anything, so might as well start up another game.

Honestly? Fuck this update. =/
No, it's fun. It's so fun, especially with friends. Don't let the early stutters deter you from it.

They said right from the start it was a 6 person game mode. And honestly, I have no problem with the money thing. You don't HAVE to do it. You can play normally and still get the achievements and normal item drops. The $1 gets you that Mann Up mode where you get a rare drop at the end. The game is free and needs to keep bringing in money, so I have no problem with them adding some monetization to the new mode. The servers thing will sort itself as well once things have calmed down.

And the items are just hats. Yeah, some people go apeshit over hats. But hats don't affect the gameplay (aside from some of the Polycount ones that complete sets).

"needs"? This game has been a P2P title for 5 years and only now EVERYONE (well, if they still have a rig to play it) gets the chance to own it. This was Valve's choice and gamble to make it available without the consumer to ever spend a dime on. This is still and perhaps always will be an unorthodox approach of profit making since, if you do it right, all you're doing is selling stuff the player never needs.

This was very exiting when it was announced, but day 3 pretty much just killed it for me.
To play on an official server, you must purchase a ticket for $1 for EACH game.
How often do you play on Valve servers normally?
I believe what he/she is referring to is that you need to purchase those tickets to obtain the new cosmetic items.
If that's what they were referring to I'm sure they'd have mentioned it somewhere instead of just complaining about the completely other smaller issue.

New tickets seem no different from buying keys, except this time you get to track how much you've spent and have to play a few rounds instead of open a crate. Crates have been accepted, so will this.

What?
Since when is having to pay for cosmetic items bad? There's nothing wrong with it. And why are you complaining about 6 players only, that's really not so bad.

And of course you have to wait for the servers, the update just came out. Give it a bit, and it'll be fine.
