A weakgeek wanted to scream, but no sound left his throat, as his mind struggled to comprehend the sheer malevolence that is the scary thread, the bane of all kittens and everything that is cute. Before long, his mind could no longer bear the pressure, and he merely collapsed, simply a shell of his former self. So remeber kids, don' touch the Heavy's gun, or he will kindfuck you with smile.jpg.

OT: I'm incredibly happy for this to have happened

I cant believe people still donate to the red cross, when its clearly obvious they just keep most, if not all, of it.

The Red Cross collects a disturbing amount of cash and very little actually gets used for what its supposed to be for.

Just read up on it, you ARE on the internet if you dont believe me.

No one would donate to the Red Cross if they actually knew what they did with the money.

That said, I would think a smart company like valve would find a better company to donate to, as all this money will just be wasted. Truly sad.

I hate to be negative over such a positive effort, but I'm I'm honestly a little disappointed it didn't raise more.

If you'd check the blog, they started the Hats for Help on the 23rd of March and by just six days on the 29th, it had raised "over $300,000." However when the sale ended on the 6th of April ten days later, the grand total was $430,543.65.

If the same momentum from the charity's start continued through March 29th to April 6th, they would've raised over $500,000 during the last ten days and by the end received over $800,000: more than twice the amount we ended up with.

And yeah, I pointed out to nearly every TF2 player I knew about this. Though I feel some of this might've been because of the unreliable nature of the MannCo store.
You shouldn't be a stockbroker. It fluctuated because the majority who wanted to donate quickly did so. There's no way it would maintain that momentum for a week.

Edit: Wrong thread.

Although now I have posted, that is awesomesauce. I'm really loving the game companies that are doing stuff like this. Really nice of them.

Or perhaps because those that bought the hat weren't going to make the same purchase again and again.

You seem to have a poor understanding of economic transactions, once your consumer base has been informed unless there is a sudden increase in TF2 players you wont see the same sales numbers as you had in the beginning.

I'm gonna go less with pity and more with, people really wanted those hats. Being a PC TF2 player myself I never purchase hats because I see them as useless. But damnit all if those virtual aesthetics didn't good for once.

If the Bank of Japan shuffels in around 175 billion dollars an later say "We do not need the money", were your hat-buying actions nothing more then selfish back-patting coupons.
