Yes because every single idea and concept came from Halo.... i still remember the first game in the world Halo.... it was a revolutionary FPS in wich you played has a tottaly non-generic "Space Super-Soldier", to fight hoards of tottaly non-generic Aliens fighting the same Aliens trough every single game......

Dont know if i should laugh at you, or simply /facepalm.... i decided to do both...
Don't be such an asshole man, Jabberwock was actually complimenting it by relating it to Halo's Theater mode. Halo probably didn't do it first but it made it famous (like how God of War is the generic hacky-slasher) and now everyone knows what people are talking about when you say "its like Theater mode in Halo". If you can't accept the fact that Halo actually did something undeniably good then do not troll the forums just to put down a game you don't like.

OT: Oh man, I can't wait to see the award winners. Stuff like this always catches my interest.

This looks actually really cool, I think this will help a lot of people who would like to make movies but don't have the know how to do it. Like me

C'mon with Meet the Medic already! =D

You mad? He didn't say Halo created it, he just asked if it was like Halo's theater mode, and it's a pretty accurate comparison. Also, Halo 3 did play a pretty big part in popularizing these sorts of theater modes, especially among console gamers, and it's very user friendly interface was a welcome feature considering most console gamers would have little to no experience with this sort of thing. Then again, someone else has already said basically this, and you misinterpreted it pretty hard, but I still hope you understand.

I never mentioned It was from halo (though it was the first console game I played with the feature.

I am offended by the fact that YOU automatically assume that halo's fans are like this.

I have spent the past week taking time out of MY day to answer people's questions about Halo and it's fanbase, removing these types of stereotypes.

Perhaps you should pay that thread a visit so we can clear this up, and have more understanding with each other?

I really would enjoy trying to give somone like yourself a fresh perspective on this issue, so far the only people who have commented are either already fans, or neutral.

Thank you:

Acctually it came from a Mod for Half Life a couple of time before Halo time..... Bungie just grabbed a good idea and claimed has theyre own, and you all considered "if Bungie did it, then the idea was from them and only them"...
Nice, mods ship with games now? Cool.

I just went on TF2 for the first time in months, after I noticed it updating. I thought "Why not?" and went on it, and just ignored the update, thinking it was one of the many I'd missed.

Didn't know I must have seen it within a few minutes of it going up.

Still... not interested. Massively popular competitions like that always seem pointless to me.

No, it's not from Halo. If anything, the Driver series came out before that. Dunno if it originates from there. Then Halo had it, then GTAIV and then Black Ops. It's nice to have it as a feature in TF2 too, but I can't help the feel that it's either a very simple demo editor, or a completely stripped down version of what was once known as Source Filmmaker.

I wish they'd still release the Filmmaker.

I'm quite impressed that they'd try to implement something as large scale as this now. It may even give me a reason to play TF2 again.

TF2 has many features that make it a great game, like clever map design and an obsession with hats not seen this side of Touhou Project, but one thing it didn't have was an auto-save replay feature or built-in clip editor, like those seen in games like StarCraft and Uncharted 2.
Actually, the Source Engine had come with a built in-clip editor since Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2's release called Source Recorder. But it is non-user friendly, has to be accessed through the developer console, CPU draining, and buggy. That's why most videos online are recorded with FRAPs or video capture cards.

The Replay Feature is the continuation of that.

Hope they can match the quality of Halo's theatre mode.

Took 'em long enough. But still, plenty of TF2 vids were made without it. Now there will just be more of them.

I mean, crap...Consoles have even managed this type of feature for quite a few games.

Don't laugh or /facepalm.

Try being less of a dick, instead!

Halo 3 really introduced the concept to the masses, and basically did start this type of mode.
Acctually it came from a Mod for Half Life a couple of time before Halo time..... Bungie just grabbed a good idea and claimed has theyre own, and you all considered "if Bungie did it, then the idea was from them and only them"...
You're the one looking for any opportunity to bash Bungie and a Halo fanb you dick.

Besides show me an in-game theatre type mode that matches the quality and polish and accessibility of Halo's. There are none. Bungie's the best at it so far.

When did they "claim it as their own"? Just about every game, in the history of ever, liberally borrows concepts and features from games before it. Half life totally ripped off doom by your logic. And the original poster was just making a comparison to one of the more popular uses of it for clarity, namechecking the original isn't necessary in the slightest.

Say a game featured a portal gun, and someone said "oh like Portal?", would I come on and say "No, not like portal, Narbacular drop did it first. Valve just took the idea and claimed it as their own." No, I wouldn't, because that makes me sound like a combatitive ass. In fact, that's exactly what Valve did, since they hired the original members of that project. But Portal is the most famous example of a portal gun people can use as a point of reference.

Basically, my point is this: Don't be so unnecessarily hostile just because you have some beef with Halo.
This. I hate when people bash about Halo or COD (basicly any popular series) just because they are popular. Some times people reference them because since they are popular a lot of people will understand what they are trying to say.

Referencing a game doesnt make me a fan of that game.

You can see that I referenced Halo and COD but although I like Halo and liked COD until MW2 I still wouldnt call myself a fanboy.

Lol what's so special about Bungie's theater mode? It's just recording demos and watching them.

what a douchebag, using a game you don't like as a frame of reference. I'm with ya buddy! where does he get off, trying to compare a game element similar to another game element, the nerve...

OT: so yeah, it's pretty much theater mode. i can handle that.
The thing is... i realized the stupidity of what i saied right after i wrote it (mainly because i tend to read everything so fast and not getting half from what i read).... then i tryed to remove my stupid comment and failed at it and now i have to hear sarcastic retards like you.... so yeah....

I already submitted an entry!

I know I won't win. Hell, I don't expect to get more than 50 views, if that. But whatever, I'll give it the old college try and see what happens.
