*Looks at this, looks back at the viginity thread*

Ah... you might want to take a step back a lil'. There are some idiotic, misspelled thoughts that qualify as posts around here too.

But generally most people here are warm and funny.
Do I even need to say it? can anyone else spot it?

I too am a new user - I found that there are many people here who can take the internet like a cool dude and have fun with it. Some people on here tend to argue every point to death - but the escapist is undoubtly the best forum I have been on.

It seems like a good forum for the most part, I just started going here recently. And it was only because of yahtzee, but it's one of the few boards I post on at this point. There's generally a better intelligence-to-shit ratio than you find on most forums. Decent place, doomworld is still my favorite, but it's a good place.

Hey everybody. I haven't been a member long, but during my short tenure here, I have noticed a remarkable difference in quality and intelligence on the Escapist forums. I've never been a forum-rat before, mostly due to the idiotic, misspelled thoughts that qualify as posts and the resulting "Replies," that run rampant on most sites. Here, I find myself actually caring about the topics, and generally motivated to read their responces. So, I would like to extend an earnest and genuine thank you to everyone here.

In other words. Thank you Escapees, thank you for being awesome.
Your still in the "honeymoon" period - stay a few months and you'll realize the users aren't as amazing as they first appeared...

We prefer the term 'pists.
I always thought Escpanoughts sounded cooler. At lest when compared to 'pists which kinda sounds like pissed. And I don't want to be forever know as 'pissed'.

[em]Hi pissed, how's it going?

Oh pissed, I'm loving that new glove your wearing on your right hand.

Sorry, pissed, but I'm leaning you because I hate you.[/em]

Here, Here! I'm loving my time at the escapist. I used to be a Gamespot poster under the name Head_Psychosis. So many wasted hours trying to educated morons... *sigh*

This is why I side with 'Pistons. If said with the appropriate inflections (peezt-ONz) it has a good ring of culture and intelligence which is what I think this board prides itself on. I don't mind "The 'Pist" but just calling us 'pists seems kind of ... unsatisfying.

Escapnoughts isn't bad but it's kind of long. It's got the right kind of mood but I wouldn't want to use it more than once in the same sentence. "I and a couple other Escapnoughts were talking about the Escapnoughts who still love yahtzee. I've made this thread to ..."

Agreed. 'pissed just doesn't give me a feeling of identity, which is what I'd like our community pronoun (Not sure if thats right) to do.

I see what you mean. Maybe we should use Escapanoughts for formal greetings, "Welcome, my fellow Escpanoughts." and Escapists, Escapees, 'Pistons for light conversation.

Something to keep in mind: The Escapist works (when it works) as an intelligent forum in part because we have relatively strict mods, but really, in the end it's up to us. Members are the real quality-control team here, all members. If you like the forums as they are, help keep them clean.

--Don't make pointless threads.

--Don't make repeats of threads that were done just a couple days before.

--When you get in a debate, fight fair and don't turn it into a personal fight.

--When someone is doing one of the above "don'ts", hit the report button and PM the mods. Don't jump in, flamethrower ablaze with righteous wrath.

--If you have a question, comment, or criticism to make about the moderation, PM the mods and discuss it in private. Airing your grievances in public on the forum does nothing but make their jobs more difficult.

--Read before you post. If you are posting to a hot thread, read what other people have already written first. You point may have already been made, countered, defended, and settled by previous posts, and rekindling it further down the thread just adds to the length and repetitiveness of already overlong and overly repetative threads.
