You should have kept your $30 and bought your own game (an older, used one, but still good)

Kill your brother.
This is the only rational solution.

Then jack all of his "phat lootz."

In all seriousness, he deserves to play, but since he's done this repeatedly, your only option is to grovel at his feet like a little baby work out a system filled with charts and graphs.

That'll learn 'em!

Only ever went halfs on a game with my bro if we could split screen, and that pretty much died about 6 months before he went to uni with the realisation only one of us could keep the consoles.

He paid for more than half. He gets first dibs.

Its times like this I return to Oblivion... (or Mass Effect, or Fallout or A.N.Other RPG unfinished or replayable)

My 'younger' brother does this to me from time to time. Unless the clan is on and begging to play, I'm not usually that bothered

Next time, set up a time system beforehand. I used to do this with my little brother when negotiating for time on the internet. If he pays for most of the game, then he gets first play and gets, say, 4 hours. Then you get 2. Then he gets another 4. Then you get 2, then he gets two and you two and so on and so forth.

You need to learn how to properly threaten people. You don't even have to follow through, just sound like a convincing sociopath and your brother will let you on.

He did pay for more then half of it.
That's about the sum of it right there.

All these people saying to talk it over. What's wrong with Rock, paper, scissors?
People still play that? I play Rock, Paper, EYEGOUGE. I always win.
I play it a similar way

Rock(Punch in the stomach), Paper(Slap in the face), Scissors(Eye-gouge). All three in succession are instant win at anything.

Never. Seriously, just deal with it and play something else. There's more games.

So Battlefield: Bad company two was released today. I was pretty stoked to get to play it. I even payed 30$ out of 69$.( Which is a lot since It was my own choice and I have no income)
Finally, after what seems like years: my brother comes through the door, holding the game and... he goes into his room and has played since 9:00 AM.
And before everyone suggests I kick ass or something along those lines, he has a good 150 pounds (muscle) on me.

So I ask you escapists, has this sort of thing ever happened to you? Where you are denied what you earned (A bit) and were forced to complain about it on the internet?

NOTE: This was not the first time my brother did this. Every new game I/He/we get, he plays for days without letting me go within five feet of the disk.

EDIT: Asking has never worked, and it didn't work this time.
Get a job, get your own computer and get over it.

If you want to know a solution.....................
depends on how violent your brother is.
I play my smarts angle and lock the System from him when I want to play.

If he tends to hit you for that then your screwed.
Sorry.
I don't want to be rude but............

Maybe pay fully for the game instead of only part?

OT: Sort of. I went out and bought Mass Effect and went into my sister's room to play it on the 360 Elite(we'd switched the 360 and PS2 around temporarily since my brother wanted to play PS2 games).

Just as I got to the start screen, my sister and her friend come in to kick me off and play L4D for the rest of the day. This wouldn't piss me off so much normally, except for the fact that I paid the majority of the price for the 360 (mother paid the rest). I realize that makes me sound like a brat but since it wasn't the first time, it ticks me off a bit.

Yeah, I say definitely get the parents involved. My "older" cousin (his birthday is 2 month before mine) basically would go into my room and use my game systems for hours and wouldn't get off even if I asked. These were games that he didn't even pay for, but neither did I as most of these were gifts. Also, I recommend from this point on avoiding joint ventures and ask your parents for an allowance/get a part-time job if possible (I know it's not always possible as my allowance came and went and I couldn't get a job til my first year in college). Also as a person who finds it impossible to get near her younger brother PS2 (what? He has Kingdom Hearts dammit) or Gamecube (which I gave him after I got the Wii and was trying to finish my achievement in SSBM) I find the money argument invalid. Being denied fun time because someone's being a prick is not a fun position.

You're the same age as my brother >.> and I'm 5 years older than my brother. I remember when we were much younger, we would hotseat/ hand each other the controller after a death on single player games. Back then there were very few co-op games, multiplayer would be stuff like mario kart. Nowadays we each have our own steam accounts, we each have our debit cards and jobs, so if we wanna play a game, we buy it, but we're more than happy to let each other try out games.
