So earlier today I achieved the God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals title for Guild Wars. A long and arduous achievement that I had been working towards for several months now. When I finally achieved it, I felt a surge of relief and self-achievement, it was finally done. It inspired me to make this thread

What I'm asking you fellow escapists, have you ever felt cathartic feeling of achievement after reaching a long and arduous goal. If so, for what?

what does cathartic mean?

edit: nvm looked it up

I felt cathartic after months of trying, I finally beat COD4's Mile High Club on veteran. It was like the game was taunting me with that 980/1000 that I was failure until I beat it.

Capturing every single member of the Deck of 52 (the Jack of Spades was a pain in the ass!) in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction alive.

After achieveing this you unlock the "Cheat Weapons Drop" which features the "portable air strike", "street sweeper" and "pocket artillery".

All of which are very fitting names....

Congrats on GWAMM. :) I felt it too when I got mine, and then again when I finally got 50/50 in my HOM.

When I got 1000/1000 cheevo points in Blue Dragon and Lego Star Wars (the only games I bothered to go for full completion).

Every damn time I finish the damn Meat Circus in Psychonauts...

I've felt it a few times over the years, the most recent actually was a bit of a minor one in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

After your ship gets stolen on Ord Mantell, you chase the bastard to Coruscant, there you chase leads on him around the city until a final showdown with a ship salesmen at the hangar he's holding your vessel in. For some reason, spec perhaps, the first time I got here, could not beat that guy for the life of me, I kept trying and trying until I got a string of lucky crits and finally, barely beat him. needless to say I shot that bastard dead first chance I got, and the feeling afterwards when I finally saw my ship, well it made the hour of frustration before hand totally worth it.
