Well, judging from what I hear, my friend has managed to lose me a girlfriend (the best one thus far), convinced others that I'm racist, sexist and elitist, goes around insulting people and doesn't know when to stop (you know, at the part when the target is upset), is virulently anti-Christian but not anything else, thinks he's incredibly intelligent and lauds this over others, when in fact he performed rather crappily in his exams (he insults people who did worse than him).

Despite all this though, he's still my friend. I wouldn't get rid of him, twat that he is.

You mentioned the aggressive aetheist? Try aggresive agnostic. He does not tell everyone there is no god, you are all wrong, he instead with his big smug smile, tell everyone that neither has been proven, all of you are arguing out of emotion and likely wrong. I am sure he feels soooo superior.
Nobody likes a fence-sitter. Atheists will think an aggressive agnostic to be a purposefully neutral smug git, and Theists, if they've read The Divine Comedy and others, will know that fence-sitters don't go unpunished.

"being one of those annoying atheists who can't just not believe in religion"

That was unnecessary, also a little hypocritical.
If it wasn't clear, I meant someone who instead of just being quietly non-religious (like the majority of atheist people) feels the need to make comments they think are snide and clever whereby, in reality, they are just dickheaded, annoying, stupid and the most of the time, completely wrong (as in the example where he thought Christians didn't believe in gravity. He genuinely thought he was being funny.)
You weren't clear, so sorry for the misunderstanding. Although if I'm reading the last bit of your reply right, in the right context he could be making a good point. I'm assuming he was talking about the theory of evolution and how if a person doesn't believe in evolutionary theory because it's a theory, they shouldn't believe in gravity either as it's also a theory. That comes up a lot and is actually a valid point sometimes.

Anyhow lets not turn this into a flame war, just because my post mentions the words "theory" and "evolution" it doesn't mean I'm arguing about anything 'KAY?

Shit, maybe I'M that kind of friend!? But how would I know? Eh... nah... I'm cool. Actually, I kind of like hanging around with people who never shut up and are overburdened with idiotic opinion... means I don't hafta try. At all.
