Yea well i just beat Bioshock 2 after a non stop 10 hour game session and i now have that feeling of emptiness after you beat a game. It was a great game and all i just hated to see it end. Forum question is What games have left you with a feeling of emptiness upon you completing them?

Tetris.

Seeing the giant rocket take off is a very bittersweet moment. After that one has to wonder what's next in life.

Fallout 3.... but that was largely due to the crappy ending, but I was still sad to see it end. I remember getting a similar feeling after beating Metal Gear Solid 4 - for all it's ludacris storytelling, it was still an amazing game, and it pained me to see it end (once again, in two ways - horrendous ending, great game overall).

A good game doesn't leave me feeling empty at all. It leaves me excited and thinking about all of the events that occurred. If a game leaves me feeling empty, it's a sure-fire way to tell I didn't connect with it at all.

I'm not talking about a feeling of emptiness like i hated the game. I mean you are happy that you beat the game accomplished the last mission ect... but after the credits role you don't really know what to do right away because you sunk so much time in the game but its over.

Yeah, I get that sometimes. The most intense feelings of "emptiness" for me were after finishing Gothic II and Outcast.

Especially Gothic II. After one year playing it, I finally killed that last dragon, just before going to bed. The next day, when I got in front of the computer with some free time on my hands, I just sat there for a long while, trying to decide what to do.

I don't think I've ever completed a game that made me feel empty.

...well, actually, I have, but that's because I hated them. Games I've sunk a lot of time into that I enjoyed to the very end have credits that leave me feeling full and satisfied.

I've felt it with Rule of Rose, Okami, Drakengard 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, and Shadow of the Colossus.

When I finished the first Drakengard, it didn't bother me, because I already had the second one and was looking forward to play it.
I would have felt it with the Shadow Hearts games but when I finished the first, I had the second, and when I finished the second, I had the third. Though I hated the third anyway...

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Shadow of the Colossus was really that same empty feeling or more like "wow, that was a good ending" feeling. I'm sure you've had those too. Where the ending just felt so awesome that it left you feeling empty, so to speak. xD Yeah. Don't look at me like I'm crazy.

I think I also have to agree about MGS4. Even though the ending was so goddamn long, it actually made me sad when the credits finally rolled.

i have given up on game endings living up to expectations. when it is a really good game with a compelling story, it is near impossible to make and ending that will live up to all of the grand thoughts in every gamers head. i just try to enjoy the ride and move on after the game is done.

It sounds like you play games for the right reasons. You enjoy the exciting parts but don't remeber a game for its bad parts. Damn i wish i could do that with more games but its just so difficult to do with some.

Dude, maybe pacing yourself would've made the game better. They make it cost that much for a reason. Savour the moment!

Once I beat Saint's Row 2, I didn't really have the empty feeling more like a, 'What's the Point?' feeling which made me glad I just rented the game ... The game which did give me that feeling is ... Arkham Asylum[/whisper]

It was an excellent game but, after beating the story I simply couldn't find anything better to do with it. Same thing happened with Dark Corners of the Earth and, Little Big Planet to name a couple.

I don't get that feeling at all. My empty feeling only corresponds to bad games. As I said before, a game shouldn't ever leave you feeling empty, no matter how much time you logged in it.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories ended too goddamn soon. Finally, the first good Silent Hill game since 3 and it ends out of friggin' nowhere. Albeit, the ending is great, every ending is. (Much to my surprise, a series first.) The ending makes sense, it did fit, and I got that wondrous chill of a sublime conclusion as I entered the lighthouse. I was just so enthralled by it as a whole, I craved more, and thankfully replay value was abundant. I only wish it could have been a tiny bit longer, perhaps stretching the actual scope of Silent Hill 1. At the amusement park, perhaps as an icy world scenario plays out. Leading to a different version of Nowhere, resulting then in the lighthouse. I guess, they made an attempt at recreating Nowhere with that highly abstract, equally creative labyrinth, but still, I wanted more.

Beyond Good and Evil is another game that ended too soon, I guess out of my own greed for quality to last.
