So, I'm playing through some Valve classics for about the billionth time. Still seeing new things btw, for instance the real subject of this thread's first post:

I'm playing Half Life 2 Episode 1, and when Alyx is occompanying you through the darkness with only your flashlight and a few bullets to aid you, I ran out and let zombies go to her to get killed . . . and saw her knee a zombie (with no living or feeling flesh there) in the crotch . . . so, I suggest to you, that moment when you see Alyx knee a zombie in it's non-feeling balls to try and hurt it.

Please, because these are always fun, post up some moments you've had when you went: "wow that just happend"

For another quick instance, in Half Life 2 proper, I got to a dam, and killed all the Combine on it, then saw one far away, didn't think to zoom, but I chased after him as he got around a corner only to find no only no enemies, but no one at all and no exit. That's when it hit me: that moment when you see The G-Man and don't realize it's him until it's too late. SO CREEPY that guy . . . love him to death though. Except I've seen theories that he might actually BE Death . . . hmm, I wonder.

The Hotel in Vampire Bloodlines.

I played this game recently and thought: "Probably not as scary as I remember", I was wrong. Oh, boy was I wrong.

Well there was the time I absolutely cheesed a pretty good Aigis online in Persona 4 Arena. The long and short of it was I Astral'd her when she was full health and she died. I was playing Naoto and she managed to corner lock me from the word go, I was on maybe a quarter health, I FINALLY got her off with Counter Shot, she gave me a little bit of space so I just used my instakill and hoped for the best.

She just wandered into one of the unblockable death circles... I still feel really bad about it. It all happened in like 5 seconds, even I was left in shock at how quickly that turned around.

Don't worry, I play only Labrys, Shabrys and Aigis now and the only one of them with an unblockable Astral is Shabrys and that's one hell of a short range.

Fighting games have a lot of moments like that. You may as well rename Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 to Well, That Just Happened: The Game

Oh and the one really, really bizarre game of BlazBlue I played Mu-12 vs Lambda-11. Now besides the fact that playing that particular match up is COOL AS FUCK (robots everywhere!) we were both playing full zoning with minimal rushdown... I've gotta say i've never really had a game where I had to worry about counter keepaway because this is BlazBlue online and everyone plays either Ragna, Jin or Hakumen and the occasional Tager or Makoto.

Mu zones well from fullscreen away whereas Lambda runs out of range on her swords there and has to move in. I won by abusing that and you have never seen so many projectiles in one game. Oh and the surprise command overhead into immediate Wisdom of the Divines super is really effective when they finally get in on you. Yeah Mu has good normals and some decent defensive options up close... Balanced. Fair and balanced.

Since we're talking about half life, I suppose I should mention the time I first discovered how... flexible the targeting system for the RPG was. It was at the big gunfight at the train station, I think near the end of episode 1? Bigass stilt walker was wreaking everything, so I thought I'd try to take it down with an RPG. Not a bad move, right?

I was up on some cat walks, with my only cover being light metal planks that seemed to block enemy fire, but would fall off if it was shot too much. I ducked behind one, pulled out an RPG, and popped up just long enough to fire before ducking back down. Now, for those of you unfamiliar, the RPG in that game works with a laser guide. The missile follows a dot where you aim it. Since I had taken cover again, the dot was now right in front of me, on the metal plate I was hiding behind. The missile wove through the legs of the walker, arced up around turning 360 degrees in the confines of the train station, and hit the other side of the metal plate, killing me instantly. It took me a while to figure out exactly what had happened, but I never tried to hit and run with the RPG again.

Probably the original Motocross Madness from 1998. When you jump up onto the edge of a cliff and drive a ways into the "endless desert," you hit a point where the game slingshots you back into the stunt pit. First time that happened, it scared the crap out of me.

Then I just kept doing it over and over again. It never got old. :p

EDIT: And there's probably tons more things I can think of, but I'm sleepy.

The first time I pulled off the shortcut on Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road. You know the one that cuts out like half the track because you make an insane jump from the top to the bottom. I miss that game :_:
