I was going through another run of Mass Effect 2 today and while finishing the loyalty missions I realised that I couldn't be bothered to start Jack's mission and that I barely ever talk to her or take her on missions, the same can be said for my other playthroughs. Now I love every character in Mass Effect, everyone has a trait or even a flaw I find endearing but not Jack, she is whiney, boring and trying way too hard which may be the point but it's still annoying as hell.

So after that rant my question to you guys is, is there any game that in your opinion that has a great cast apart from that one character who annoys the hell out of you and almost ruins your enjoyment of the game?

All the goddamn kids in Fallout 3. ARRRGHHH If only I could of sold all those little brats from Little Lamplight to the slaver. Even when I sold that girl she had to have the last laugh.

"Your just jealous because your mother didn't love you!"
"MY MOTHER IS DEAD AAAAAARGHHHHH!!!"

I love Jack, tattoo's, shaved head, actually turns into Satan at that time of the month. I take her on every mission, when I can be bothered to play it.

I can't stand the mentor guys or in FPS games the squad leader, oh so wise condescending and knowledgeable arrogant.

Also the adoring fan ...

Well sorta...

I am into the Total War games.

Now for me it is not a person... but a faction who are a complete let down...

Austria-Hungary!

If you play as that nation then you will always do well. You have a great set up for the game and can't really go wrong...

However let the AI get its hands on it... then it just fails... if you are allied to it... they will back stab you and attack you with armies half your's size. It just dissolves no matter if you are trying to help them or crush them.

It is a total waste of space.

Basically this.

All her "I'm pissed at society" teenage anger rants really made me hate her guts.

Plus, whichever Bioware intern designed her needs to be flogged. Those nipple straps.....*shudder*

If I were to go and plug my Final Fantasy III cartridge into my Super Nintendo you would find a saved game file where every character is level 99 even Umaro and Gogo.
Gau however is forever stuck at level 35.

Gau sucks dong and I'm glad they dropped his character class from all the subsequent Final Fantasy games.

Also Bastila Shan from Knights of the Old Republic.
Sorry Bastila, you can stay on the ship and pout about how I'm abusing my Jedi powers. Canderous, HK-47 and I are gonna be over here having fun.

Kimari, Quina Quen and Quistis Trepe from Final Fantasy X, IX and VIII respectively.
Blue Mages suck, there I said it. Being able to learn Bliue Magic from your enemies is a great subskill to add to the party but don't build an entire character around it.

Obligatory mention of Tidus in FFX. All the others were fine for me, and a few (Auron and Yuna) were actually quite awesome. I could also say the same for Dragon Age Origins in that I found Sten to be rather stale among several quite awesome characters (Alistair).

Oh boy do I agree, Sten had so much potential as a deadpan sociopath like HK-47 from KOTOR but he was so dull nothing about him interested me, Bioware can make some amazing characters but really drop the ball sometimes. And Tidus was ok if you pressed mute.

She's not easy to like, but I find Jack's loyalty mission to be one of the most interesting and a highlight mission in ME2. Jack is one of the most feared characters in the ME series, and yet she is so very vulnerable; that makes for some powerful and memorable character moments.

I fucking hate Colette in Tales of Symphonia. Seriously, ***** needs to shut up.

Still, I didn't hate her enough for it to ruin the game at all, as it is still my favorite game. I think maybe I convince myself that I hate her more than I actually do as a way to find some fault in the game. I don't know.

Jack was always my least favourite. It was clear she wasn't remembering her childhood experiences accurately which annoyed me. But in the final mission I used her for the dome shield and it felt kinda awesome to have her doing something not for the greater glory of herself.

The annoying or useless but highly marketable characters in Final Fantasy games :p

Yuffie and Cait Sith from 7, mainly. I just ignore Yuffie and her mission except for if I'm going for 100%. Cait Sith I'd ignore if he wasn't 'essential'. His sacrifice might have meant something if not for that damn moogle toy and the fact that 10 seconds later, lo and behold, a new one shows up just in time. It's the superior-in-every-way twin/cousin cliche :p

Luigi. Talk about a 3rd wheel. Dude, Mario and the Princess are looking for some alone time. No wonder the princess never puts out, with that creepy green guy always tagging along.

Her loyalty mission is great but every other scene with her is forced characterization.
