That one must read Java book

Well I have switched majors from Culinary to Computer Science. Surprise from a gamer eh? Anywho my parents are working for amazon this year and were curious what I would like. I was wanting to get a book about learning simple Java (as the school I am going to next semester teaches Java instead of C++) and was wondering what anyone else would suggest.

Might get a good variety but if you guys see one your recognize please note if it was good or not for you as well.

I've always gone for the study guide textbooks from MSCE.

I've got a 6 foot tall pile of 'em right behind me.

They're very distinct looking too, hard to miss on a shelf. They all look like this:

I really wish I could help, being a fellow computer scientist studying java. However, I was too poor to buy the books that help at the start and once I learned that they weren't absolutely necessary for the course I abstained from spending my small amount of cash on them. I mean come on, I need my money for better things..... like alcohol...
