Does anyone have a post of their opinion that just really got the ball rolling for ignorant responses, truly compelling discussions, and/or a topic that just would not go away? What was it? What about that post seemed to set so many people off and/or get them really thinking?

If you can't think of one, did you see a post from which you actually learned something? what was it?

Yeah, I started a thread entitled could cancer be a good thing? a lot of people didn't bother to read the OP and instantly cracked out the flame throwers and became confused when the mods didn't lock the thread. But the OP was actually just a front to expose the fact that once people become emotionally attached to things, the vast majority will become very close minded and not attempt to understand an opposing point of view. It was proven to be a very accurate theory. However some ass-troll showed up at the end and wouldn't shut up about pseudo philosophy which really spoiled the thread so I had it locked. But my point was proved so I'm fine with that.

I once made a comment that I had been deliberately general, to avoid a wall of text putting people off. Someone chose to take insult to the fact that I hadn't clogged up the screen with mounds of words. I ignored him, others didn't. I can't find the thread right now though.

I actually found that quite interesting, and yes, I did look at the opposing point of view.

OT: None of my topics or posts ever seem to draw much controversy to them. I once had an argument with someone over how useless the Black Wii was, but I wouldn't call that widespread controversy.

I learn things from posts all the time, namely how markedly stupid and intelligent people stand out from each other.

Whenever I make fun of the crazy christians they gather and respond with very unchristian words. It's fricken hilarious.

here, let's see if we can make it happen -

Hey christians! Gay marriage is just fine by me! i mean, to each their own, right?

The biggest discussion I've ever started here was probably the one that I wrote arguing against the death penalty. People didn't seem to take issue with my argument so much as my facts (which were sound). I guess a lot of people just aren't willing to accept good science when it conflicts with their perceptions of the world.

I made a thread about anti Obama and swine flu genocide posters which lead to a small flame war. But on the bright side nothing really bad happen and the Mods didn't lock the thread.

But I did learn my lesson.

Yeah quite a few people did, and helped put out the flames with me. I was very grateful for that. I always try and provide interesting topics, even if they are controversial you can still talk about them as long as there's no ignorant flaming. That thread was practically on fire lol.

I once started a thread about ghost and it turned out into a whole religion flame war. I didn't see that coming too much. But hey I was a young poster and I learned the rules. Shit happens......

You're a troll! God will smite you down!

Yeah, it's weird how some will defend their opinion in that way. Defend your opinion by disrespecting someone else's. Genius.

EDIT: I'm of course talking about christians flaming people for thinking gay marriage is OK, not your post. You post was hilarious.

Ha! I mock your attempts to mock me, and you know what that statement isnt offensive enough.

OT: The biggest debate I can remember that I ever had was with Amnesiac. It was a quick little arguement about whether Gurren Lagann or Air Gear was more awesome. We quickly came to an impass and agreed to disagree.

I made one once about this kid and how people jump to conclusions about people who sometiems look or act different/"weird." Needless to say a lot of people read it as me being that kind of judgemental person and I got a lot of hate.

Thankfully some people realised what I was saying.
