So recently I went to see Mastodon and Dethklok in concert, as a metal head and fan of cartoons, I was stoked. After finding out Mastodon (who for those that don't know have been kicking ass since around 2000) would be opening for Dethklok! (a cartoon band on a show that hasn't ventured much farther than adult swim and cartoon network and only been around since '06) so me and my buddies were thinking "What kind of a kick in the balls would it be to be a veteran metal band touring with a cartoonist who's actually headlining?"

thoughts?

I'm not into metal, but I find your inquiry very amusing.

I guess that would be a rather hard kick in the nuts and I'm sure that anyone wh0o has ever opened for Dethklok feels that they have been outshined by "flukes" who nobody would know of if it weren't for the show.

I'm also sure the same thing happened with anyone who opened for The Blue Brothers.

Masterdon are hardly a "veteran" metal band. Not the youngest, but by no means veteran. Once they've been around as long as Metallica and Iron Maiden, maybe then shall qualify. I've never heard of this Dethklok, but maybe they don't feel ready for their own shows. I went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers back in 07 where Foo Fighters opened, they were fairly big at the time, Best of You was no.2 or something...

as I said, they're pretty unheard of, but to give you an idea of what we're dealing with, here's a youtube link for one of Dethkloks earliest songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBH0Bd9Z1VA A jingle for "Duncan Hills Coffee"
