Have you ever had someone say or do something that was incredibly hardcore when you weren't expecting it? Like it's really out of character for the person or the situation doesn't call for that kind of response?

There was a time when I was dating my future wife when I wanted her to get up and get me a soda from the mini fridge we had in our apartment. I thought I'd be cute about it and said: "Hey babe, the fastest way to my heart is through cherry coke..." she turned around looked at me with her big green eyes and said: "Don't be silly the fastest way to your heart is through the second and third ribs on the left side."

Another time I was hanging out with a friend who was more Geek Stereotype, Star Trek Fan, glasses, bit overwieght. Really nice guy and the last person you'd ever expect anything violent or hardcore from. I commented on how a well known jackass keyed his name in my car. My friends response was: "So we're going to rig a nailbomb in his mailbox or what?" He was completely not kidding about this and it was incredibly out of character for him.

Saw a friend of mine with like the hottest babe I've seen. I thought he was gay as he never really had a gf or talked to members of the oppostie sex. My first response was that it was his cousin/relative. After I talked to him about it... Teach ME!. It was really surprising.

I'm known amongst my friends as our (former) whipping boy. I'm uncoordinated and weak, and I'm much smaller than all of my friends who average about 6 foot 1 or so. Once I was walking along with my friends, reading while walking, when one of them, known for random acts of violence and cruelty, swings his arm at the back of my head. Without even breaking stride, I ducked under the blow and kept walking. He said it was so cool that he didn't attack me for the rest of the day. A small victory.

I had a rabbit that ate bacon and growled. The cats all knew that when they went through the kitchen, they didn't touch the floor. The thing was, this rabbit was blind. I swear it could smell the cats' fear.

I once broke from my "good guy" values and beat the living shit out of someone who messed with my girl. No one messes with her anymore.

Wow, this thread makes me realize just how one-dimensional I am. I almost never act out of character. Well, except for this one time I went streaking... (surprisingly fun by the way and I lucked out by not getting caught).

When I got into a convo about WoW, and I started talking about stat values of haste rating vs. crit rating and why haste is better for a warlock.
I mean wtf, that's like the basics!

I wear a hat almost always. So when one time someone asked me, which I get all the time, why I wear the hat, I just looked her deep in the eye and said, dead-pan, "It's the leukemia". Even people at the table who'd known me for years stopped what they were doing and stared. Somehow just got it perfect, I guess. Obviously, after a few seconds, I cracked up, but there was a good proper solemn moment there that even I didn't expect!

I'm prone to doing the occasional random thing. I feel it rise up like a bubble of energy sometimes, ykno, and I just act.

As for other people, I've seen some guys who you wouldn't expect it of just snap and rage out at someone, like, properly try to hurt them and all.

Oh, and a girl I knew sent her boyfriend a box of ice with a pigs heart in it for valentines day. We were all a bit miffed on that one; it just wasn't like her, ykno?

Well, usually I'm pretty timid when it comes to violence, but back in the Dublin riots a while back, I went a bit mad at the cops. We made a few molotov cocktails using Smirnoff bottles and a can of petrol someone had brought, and threw them at police. Not really intending to injure though. At one point they fired a tear gas canister and I managed to pick it up and throw it back before it detonated, making some of the police scatter because they weren't wearing wearing gas-masks. Silly people.

So yeah, that was pretty cool of me. Of course, it was all for a good cause.
Yeah, silly police. Always wear gas masks. Stick it to the man, Irish guy!
As an Irish comedian
"When we were doing the bombing, blowing yourself up was a mistake. Went straight to the bottom of bomb making class with that one."

I never do anything hardcore, except for all the kinkiness and sex.

Both my parents have had moments that weren't necessarily "hardcore" but they surprised me a great deal. Mom's moment: I'm sitting in the den watching The Daily Show at 11 and my mom wanders in, sees what I'm watching and says, "Oh! I like Colbert better, but what is Jon talking about?" My mom is currently 56, and is far out of the demographic of the Daily Show and Colbert Report, so the fact that she watches both regularly kind of blew my mind. Dad's moment: I'd been out late, like 5am late, on the 4th of July with some friends and I pulled up into the driveway, hoping to sneak into the house unnoticed. Dad's up already eating breakfast in the kitchen before work, so there's literally zero chance I'll get in undetected. I gather my courage and ready an explanation, then open the door. Dad looks up and says, "I take it you had a fun night?" I was so startled I just mumbled an affirmative. "When do you have to be to work? 5? Okay, well get some rest". That was the moment I realized my dad had officially decided he couldn't discipline me any more. It was liberating.

People at work know me as a very straight forward no bullshit kind of guy. But I have this thing I do when I hear someone being compared to a black woman. One of our workers (male, black) was just joking and called one of our other workers (female, latina) a black woman.

I snapped my fingers in a Z shape, did that neck side to side thing and said in a horrible black woman impression, "Now don't you ever talk to my girl here and call her a black woman."

They just looked at me in confusion and started laughing because it was so out of character for me. I've worked with them for over a year now and they had never seen me do that.

You know both my wife and star trek friend are Irish too. I theorize that the Irish are just a hardcore people.
