The title is probably a lot grander than the concept, but here goes anyway. I'm not going to say 'Am I the only one etc etc' because people round here seem to treat that as some kind of cardinal sin, that you should be punishable by death in all nations, but anyway here goes.
When you die in a game, have you ever wondered what happens in the universe you're in? I was playing Zelda: OoT recently, when I (rather embarrassingly) died on my first trip across Hyrule fields, due to a lapse in concentration (excuses excuses), and it got me thinking - what happened next? Sure, in the reality I moved into that never (ever) happened, but in the one where I died...who took my place? Did Ganondorf's evil machinations go off without a hitch? Who let him in to steal the triforce?? Would my death stave off the cycle of evil for generations to come? This could be a whole new link in the timeline theories - only the Hero's death or victory can prevent the...but I digress (severely).
So, the discussion. Have you ever thought about this, and if so, for what games? What were your thoughts? Any interesting theories?
