Lately, my buddy and I have been listening, pretty much non-stop, to Coheed and Cambria. They are, without a doubt, my favorite band. A while ago, I looked in on their lyrics and was surprised to find that they are based upon a story, made into comic books by the bands lead singer and guitarist: Claudio Sanchez. These comics, called The Amory Wars [http://www.theamorywars.com/], consist of ten copies following the Kilgannon family.

My buddy and I have recently picked up the first five of these books and are absolutely enamored with them. The story really pulled me in and I am looking so hard for cheap copies of the last five books.

My question to you, Escapist, is this:
Have any of you ever read the Amory Wars? What did you think of them? What do you think of Coheed and Cambria as a band?

Please, give a good reason* as to why you don't like the band if you don't.

The Amory Wars: Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amory_Wars]

Coheed and Cambria: Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coheed_and_Cambria]

Coheed and Cambria: Purevolume [http://www.purevolume.com/coheedandcambria]

*A good reason is not: He sounds like a girl/He is so whiney/etc.

EDIT: Please, if you have read the books, no spoilers. Thank you.

ah my friend welcome to the cult!
i am a massive fan of coheed. i first got into them with "in keeping secrets of the silent earth 3" but they just get better and better with each album. if you get the chance go and see them they are amazing live. i saw them in london in with their tour for "no world for tomorrow" but unfortunatly missed out on neverender. that would have been awsome. gonna order that box set though. that should make up for it some how.

i find the best place to get the amory wars commics is at the gigs. i have the first 5 plus the limited first edition cover. i need to get the other ones though.

I have gotten to see them live, earlier this year actually. I saw them, with the same buddy, in Madison Square Garden with Slipknot. Absolutely amazing concert.

Saw them three times (one was at Neverender, but I went to all four nights and the acoustic set, does that count as five separate concerts?). I love the Amory Wars, but the graphic novel for Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume I: From Fear through the Eyes of Madness was terrible. At least they're re-doing the entire story. Can't wait to see the graphic novel for Vol 2: No World for Tomorrow. The ending of the story should be epic.

Love them, hence the name. After the second comic and the graphic novel I didn't really keep up with the story though.

If you like the music you should check out their earlier stuff they did under the name Shabutie, the lyrics are a little messed up but they're just as awesome.

Did you get to go to Neverender at all? Or do you have the box set?

IMO, the new version of Rush, they have the high pitched vocals, the extremely technical music, and the ridiculously awesome lyrical content. Rush is by far my favorite band, I can't seem to get into Coheed, though, it's weird.

Nope, couldn't make it to the show and a serious lack of funds have stopped me from getting the box set =[

How about you?

I went to Neverender in Los Angeles. Managed to receive VIP tix as a birthday gift. Then I bought the box set because it is epic. If you ever get the chance, pick it up. Or, there is a condensed DVD version that has all four nights (no bonus features or CDs unfortunately) for $20.

Nice, wish someone loved me that much. I do plan on picking up the box set once I can free up the money, hate being poor lol
