so there have been a lot of forums with best game or worst game ever, so i ask what was your most average game?

mine would have to be Starcraft, it is interesting and it can hold my attention, but it feels repetitive to just stall out a game until you steam roll over all the enemies defenses with tanks

Halo.

It looks good, sounds good and plays good, but the combination of full regen health and regular auto save points means there's no need to think ahead. Easy to just pick up and play, but it feels more simplistic than just about any other FPS I've played, so it's also very easy to put down.

I agree with this person... it's OK, just ok... it will keep your attention but do little more...

GTA4. Fun for awhile but not nearly as good as people make it out to be. Not saying its bad just overrated. A pretty average game hyped beyond belief.

Umm, you're playing it wrong.
If you have 2 bases and your opponent has 5, there's no conceivable way of steamrolling any defenses when they can produce more than double the units you can.

Meaning, if you can actually manage that in the diamond league, I want to see videos.
'cos that would mean you're the most amazing player of all time.

hm... Most average game...

well, the first Persona was pretty average. FF VII was pretty average. I'd say most any JRPG really is pretty average, since there isnt a lot of variations from the formula.

I'm going with Borderlands. I still had fun with it, being a loot whore and all, but I can't think of a more sterile world.

Uncharted 2 gave me that feeling to be honest. It was pretty and I thought Nathan Drake was a good character, but I just didn't get the love for the game. Something about it was just off.

That's basically how it is with most games, not just JRPGs. Fallout: New Vegas uses the same engine as Morrowind and Oblivion and is the same as Fallout 3. Most Third Person Shooters are also using cover based combat like Gears of War as well.

For my money, the games that are thouroughly "meh" are games you never hear anything about, either good of bad. For example, Star Trek: Encounters is a PS2 game that is a decent little take off on the formula of Computer Space, combined with the Star Trek license. It's not great, it's not terrible, and I'd be surprised if too many of you had even heard of it. Overall, it's a solid 6/10, getting bumped up to a 6.5 out of ten if, like me, you're a fan of the license, but I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they're a fan of the series and they find it dirt cheap. The only reason I wound up with a copy is I saw it for a couple of bucks in Gamestop, and got it confused with Star Trek: Shattered Universe, a Star Trek based flight sim.

Edit: Whoops, I read that as "Meh" game, not "average" game. The most average game probably would be Halo at this point, if only because the changes it made to its genre back when it came out have become pretty much standard on console centric shooters sense.

Oh yeah totally agree with Halo here, I mean campaign though the multiplayer is awesome. Done it a few times now where I've cracked open a halo game and played it co-op with a mate, always just him steamrolling in while I keep going back to respawn his sorry arse, 5 hours later and the game is complete. Always dissapointing really, but the multiplayer keeps everyone coming back for more.

Biotic and tech abilities add a lot to Mass Effect, and even more in Mass Effect 2.

With charge and Geth Shield Boost, I hardly ever need to use cover.

For a recent release I think I have to say Enslaved.

Above average cutscenes and acting, but that's married to a pretty average game. Platforming is simply pointing the stick and pressing jump button until you actually jump, while combat is just uninspired melée combat and clunky ranged attacks.

Oddly, the DLC is excellent being a platform puzzler and stealth/sniping game. It's almost like an action puzzle game as you try to figure out how to make your way through the level while only being able to take a couple of hits. Nice story, too.
