I can't watch the Baftas tonight but their website has all the winners up 2 hours in advance.

The King's Speech picks up 7?!?!?!

The Baftas are ridiculously bias! This is supposed to be awards for film, not the british (actually make that the english) awarding themselves.

Anyone else thinking the same or is it just me?

The vast majority of award shows are complete bollocks anyway. I thought we knew this?

Also, the King's Speech didn't win the majority because it was British, it won the majority because, as Movie Bob said, it's Oscar bait. A film written specifically for winning awards.

Newsflash. Almost no award show is actually fair and is hugely skewed in favor of movies specifically made to pickup oscars. See moviebob's speech.

Yaeh, we know it's bollocks. Scoot Pilgrim and Kick Ass weren't even nominated for Best Adapted Film.

Yeah, this isn't exactly a new thing, award shows have been something of a joke for a while.

Now that wasnt a very funny joke at all. Was it?

Since when did the "the king's speech" stop becomming a film and started becoming "The English"

Next time, state what you actually think is wrong with the film before shouting out bias, just becasue the judges or what ever dont share the same taste of film as you.

Then again, all award cerimonies are all bull.

Ok thank you everyone who evidently has their own opinion and not sniping that of the Escapist's film reviewer.

An example of what I'm on about -

Geoffrey Rush for best supporting actor? Hullo? Christian Bale in the fighter anyone?

There are people who take awards shows seriously? Their whole purpose is so that a bunch of pretentious film snobs can get together and comfort each other about their crap box office records.

Hang on, Baftas are British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. It's supposed to be British. Yeah, they are biased, but every award ceremony is biased.

Look at the Academy Awards:

They love: movies based on true events, Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, book movies, drama and misery, characters with an illness or handicap.

They hate: humor and happiness, fantasy, sci-fi, thrillers, action movies, movies based on old television series, female directors, black people, Martin Scorsese and Alfred Hitchcock.

There have been exceptions, but it has been the general trend.

They should have just called it the Kings Speech awards... >_>
Some of their awards I didn't agree with, like the best music. It didn't strike me as a movie that depended on the music, like Inception.
I was glad that Tom Hardy picked up an award, and Christopher Lee at the end <3
