What the hell are you talking about? Nuke does exist in Final Fantasy. That's what the SNES version of FFIV (called FFII) called Flare.

Methinks you need to stop thinking that everyone grew up in the post-Cloud generation. Hell, I could've done a similar thing and called the Reflect spell Wall. Or gone and called Bio Virus.
