Hey, it makes things a little less obnoxious.

Let's say that I already saw said video. Then I return to this thread and it's still there, taking up space. Looking messy and non-uniform. Same with pictures. They make things look non-uniform, and I don't want them crowding my screen up with crap that, after viewing, is nothing more than extra scroll-time if I so choose to scroll up and down the page.

The above image takes up so much space that it detracts from actual banning that is going on and crowds the screen.
