And no you don't have to paint it, but just plain grey plastic, or unpainted tin is rather dull to look at. Upside with metal models is that it's really easy to strip the paint. Plastic is trickier.
Well, I'm farsighted, which is a real pain when you try to paint something small and close up. And as for colours, it's just good to paint do what ever you feel like, too many people just copy the examples.Nikki Fallingstar said:

There's always ebay, buying metal models from there isn't so bad since stripping the paint from the tin doesn't damage the model, unless you use hydrochloric acid or something.
