to be honest i gave up on the TT because well i just cant get the rules though my head and there is no game store nearby

GW's Foundation and Washes are awesome. Their regular paint is pretty meh. Vallejo has good paint.

You have to start somewhere.

And you chose to start with... not one of the easiest armies to start with.
