Cause when you know you got a good gaming franchise and you pretty much wrapped it up but you know people would pay for another game like that, you can always rely on good ol' prequels. Or alternate universes. Or similar, non-numeric sequels.

...I still believe it's gonna be a good game, though.

Eric Holmes, whose CV includes The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and, perhaps more encouragingly, Prototype.
Prototype was an awesome game, but it literally has nothing on Ultimate Destruction. That game is probably in my top 10 games of all time, and the only really good hulk game ever made. It was what a Hulk game should be, and prototype was just that with far better graphics.

OT: I'm really optimistic about this. We might see a Batman with less gadgets and more grit, which I'm all down for. And I think that Death Stroke is the perfect counterpart to a more green Batman, hell, he is a good counter part to an experienced Batman. I also fully believe that this can be a great game under Eric Holmes. Arkham City was a great game, but it didn't quite hit that open world feel.

Oh boy, an origin story. For Batman. Yay. Do they really need to make an entire game for that? I mean it's not that complicated, his parents are deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaad.
Now what the developers should really be working on is Aquaman: Atlantis Asylum.
I would have gone with "Arkham Aquarium", personally.

I'd be up for them doing another Arkham game, but only if it was Rocksteady. The fact that they're outright ignoring the continuity and plot-threads in AC also doesn't bode well in my opinion.

What about Hush's plot, Azrael's foreboding, Scarecrow's threats, Harley's pregnancy, hell even rampant Joker speculation?

Are none of these threads going to be answered? That just seems a little bit of a sucker punch to me.

Harley's pregnancy did get addressed in the Revenge of Harley Quinn. I'd tell you how but I don't know how to do spoiler tags >.>

Please don't turn this into fucking COD with one studio making a game and another making one at the same time.

Please don't let this be a turd that was in development ages ago and is now being resurrected.

Oh god it's releasing in less than 6 months and it's only now being announced? Oh no... not good.

So we're just going to drop all those sequel hooks from Arkham city? Not going to follow up on the consequences of that game at all? Just gonna brush that stuff under the rug.

Goddammit. Can we not get a decent Batman Beyond game already?

It's amazing to me these companies get as big as they are when they keep making stupid choices like this, Rocksteady was founded by Warner Bros to make batman games they have 2 games in their library why would you take a series they've done a fantastic job with and give it to someone else? Even if it's another in house developer the point is you had 2 great games they clearly loved the games enough to put all those really cool Easter eggs in it so we'd look forward to the third and you decided that instead of letting them continue to make these games and net you lots of that money you bathe in every night your giving it to another company that's doing a prequel.

The only way I can imagine this going well would be if they skipped all the parents getting shot and just started when he was first deciding what to do, like finding allies like Gordon and getting a handle on flying on rooftops beating people to a pulp.

I find it somewhat distressing that the game releases so soon after announcement. Will they have enough time to produce a proper game, or was the marketing done this way intentionally?
Most likely they been working on it before Arkham City was being developed (sort of like what Call of Duty does with it's dual studio system) and is only being announced now that it is almost already done.

I do wonder what they will do with the fact they can't use the Joker, since Mark Hamill is retired (unless do some animated adaption of "The Joker's Wild"), and no one can match that voice.

They could get Miracle of Sound ;)

neh that would never happen, but it would be friggin hilarious!

....However, i haven't seen him around lately, for a while in fact... *Gets magnifying glass and a long coat* time to go all detective on this!
