Anyway, I posted this in a thread recently, and it made me wonder how many people were aware of the Bechdel test, and how many knew that their favorite shows were sexist! Woo! Anyway, here we go! Technical speak!
The Bechdel Test And You!:
In order to pass the Bechdel Test, the show must feature at least two women who have at least one conversation and it must be about something other than men. (Even just 'I wish my brother would leave me alone sometimes. He's such a dweeb!' counts.)
That's it. That would be the single criteria! (Technically three. GO DIE IN A FIRE, SKINNY!)
So, my female Escapists...go look at your favorite television series (Or movie!) and see if it passes the test. Go on, I'll wait here for you.
Didn't pass, huh? Well, that's to be expected. Bet you don't see the world any differently at all! Well, me neither! Party! (Note! My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic passes the test. Isn't that just the raddest thing ever?)
I expect this to be flooded by men who came into this topic specifically because it says 'No boys allowed' You see, if you don't come in, then my topic stays clear of males...just as I said it should be! But if you did come in, then that just means that you've learned something new today! (Maybe) I win either way! Checkmate, dear boy! Now, just crown my Bishop and we can move on with our lives.
