The Flaming Lips' Royal Albert Hall show back in 2006. A band on their best form, playing to a hardcore crowd in a great venue. Honourable mentions to Neil Young at Hop Farm '08, Bob Dylan at Hop Farm two days ago (!) a0nd Metallica at the Millenium Dome last year (although Machine Head who were supporting were on really bad form).

Toss up between Rage Against the Machine about three years ago in New Orleans for Voodoo Fest and The Roots in D.C. about six years ago. They were both awesome for completely different reasons. Rage I was really excited for because they had just reformed. The Roots, well, I had no fucking idea who they were and I went to this thing to see Jane's Addiction (who sucked balls live) and they stole the show.

Edit: Oh, and maybe NIN, but only because the light show was insane. That was Voodoo Fest again, two years ago, I think?
I went so see Rage a few weeks ago. they had 100,000 people chanting "fuck Simon Cowell". It was epic.
Yeah, I was about 25 meters from the stage and at Voodoo Fest they usually have two big stages about 200-250 meters apart, but the headliners play alone. From that other stage, all the way up was packed and at one point I looked up at the megatron and it looked like the audience was on fire because of all the people begging for an encore with lighters.

The more I think about it, the more I think that was the best show ever.

The only band I've seen live in concert (so far) is the Dave Matthews Band with my dad, since they're his favorite band (and mine, by extension).

Nobody does it like Coheed and Cambria.

I've seen many live shows, but none has topped theirs for me.

Rob Zombie has an amazing live show as well. I saw him in a crowd of 30,000+. He had a few giant robots, tons of fire, and generally great stage presence.

KISS. I saw them when they were on tour with Aerosmith in 2003 and it was awesome. The pyrotechnics and the lighting were the best that I have ever seen and the music was excellence because it is KISS after all. It was quite an experience to say the least.

Definitely The Mars Volta. Their lead is one crazy bastard.
Mars Volta were the best (It was in an open topped courtyard in london whilst the sun was setting)

Closely followed by Muse at Wembley
We should be friends. I saw Muse at the same music festival, and I'm seeing them again at their concert in Brisbane later this year. Muse are actually my favourite band.

And if by Muse at Wembley, you mean this concert:

I am completely envious of you.
That was it,the HAARP show. It was amazing but the proggy brilliance of Mars Volta beat them, just.

The only band that could try and win the top spot now are Boris and unfortunately they rarely play the uk.

Where do you live mate?
Canberra, Australia.

I saw them both at Big Day Out in Melbourne, which is one of our biggest music festivals. 12 hours of just jamming out.

I know this is worthy of a good flaming session, but please respect my personal music preferences...

Less Than Jake, they sound amazing live, and they were tons of fun. They were inviting people onstage to have drinks with them their set was over, they were telling jokes, and of course, playing some of my favorite songs. Ska bands always put on a good show.
