Any/all of the Sandman books with the Dark Tower coming in at a close second. If I owned those gorgeous HUGE editions of Sandman, it would be no contest at all.
I have no idea. but one piece of fiction that I love is the stand by stephen king. it's old, tattered and been passed around like currency. that book is more about the stories it has than the story itself now. they story was fucking awesome too. I have too many books to really pick anything else
I'm in a humorous mood at the moment so I'm going to have to go with A Confederacy of Dunces [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Confederacy_of_Dunces] by John Kennedy Toole. It's quite simply the funniest book ever written and I'm rather disappointed no one else has mentioned it. Other books I might choose depending on my mood include The Two Towers, 1984, Through the Looking Glass, Breaking Dawn, Speaker for the Dead and The Count of Monte Cristo.
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky- I did read it the first time whilst in nicotine withdrawal and sleep deprivation though.
Dune by Frank Herbert - The 'prequels' by his son are absolutely terrible, unfortunately.

Either the Penguin Classics edition of "The Count of Montecristo" or "The Brothers Karamazov", although "Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures" is also excellent.

Gah... Dean Koontz' Relentless is pretty good. kind of a mind fuck at the end though. Not in teh, "omg i didn't see this coming" more so, "how/why the hell did he decide to put this in!?"
