The Dragon and the George by Gordon R. Dickson. Nobody I know has ever even heard of that book. It was pretty entertaining.

The Darth Bane Trilogy - Drew Karpyshyn
The Mass Effect Trilogy (Or at least soon-to-be trilogy) - Drew Karpyshyn
And The Giver is REALLY well known, but I suppose I'll put it here anyway, 'cuz it's awesome.

The Children of Húrin. Probably my favorite book to this day but whenever I mention it I am met with blank stares.

Edit: Also anything by R.A Salvatore. Loved the Cleric Quintet and everything Drizzt Do'Urden.
I have the Children of Húrin, actually Its on my self, not read it yet because I' am still reading the LOTR books but finished my hard back copy of the Hobbit :)

Remember reading Good Night Mr Tom as a kid, very good book, will be suprised if people have heard of it.

The Faerie Wars Chronicles series by Herbie Brennan. It wasn't until recently that I noticed the internet acknowledging it's existence, I thought I dreamed the whole series.

You sir are my hero.

On topic, Copernick's Rebellion by Leo A. Frankowski. Damn good book, but I don't think it's ever been very popular.

Right now I'm kinda working my way through Dracula: The Un-Dead.

It's pretty good from what I've discovered so far.

not many people were aware of shutter island before the film. i hope people who see the film go out and read the book, rather than it being overshadowed.

'Tuck Everlasting' -it's short and interesting, it had a movie made about it i heard it wasn't good
i don't know anyone who's read it
I have read Tuck Everlasting! When I was about 9 or 10, actually. Damn good book.

Also, a book that people may have NEVER even heard of -

House of Leaves - by Mark Z. Danielewski

------- It's a really surreal and very complicated story about a 19 year old punk being led to his friend's apartment where an old, blind Portugese man had died and he finds a very detailed analysis and summary of a very strange movie called 'The Navidson Records'.

And the book is full of Zampano's(the Portugese man) notes, Johnny Trumain's(the punk) diary, the summary and transcription of what happens in the film, and increasingly confusing and mentally unraveling letters from Johnny's insane mother in a mental hospital who ends up dead.

The Oath by Frank Peretti
A very good book has more of a relegiose overe tone then most people like (but its more of a plot/story aspect then preachy how to live your life stuff)

*Does heroic stuff*

Have you noticed that the map in Sabriel doesn't match what Mr. Nix describes in the story? I spent ages trying to work it out and couldn't.

I have, but only because of the XKCD comic.

Hmm I'd have to say the Night Angel series. Even if the third one was a bit weak.

Also it is getting increasingly more difficult to find someone who has read both horror originals - Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster.
Ah... I am afraid I have read this (Night Angel). I loved the series, but I know of at least two people who have read it...

Also have read (and very nearly worship) Lies of Locke Lamora. Redwall series and Name of the Wind are also on there. It seems that good books, no matter how obscure, have been read by at least a handful of people. I just wish such fabulous books got more press.

The Myth Adventure series by Robert Asprin. They turned his first book into a comic book and now some one is colorizing it as a web comic project.

http://www.airshipentertainment.com/mythcomic.php?date=20100109

It's been a few years since I read them, but damn this comic is dead accurate to the book. If you like what you see here, I definitely recommend picking them up. There's like 10 of these books.

I'd have said the Name of the Wind had Maxthereaper not reviewed it.
Just because Max reviewed it doesn't change the fact that most people don't know of it. And they will pay for their insolence.
