War of the Monsters.
Despite all the clearly plagiarized monsters and appalling writing, I couldn't help but enjoy the scenario of a giant preying mantis mercilessly beating a B-Grade King Kong ripoff with a water tower.
Ah, the memories...
this ^

that game is awesome!

Neopets [http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/adventure/neopets/index.html] on the PS2. Gamespot gave it a 6, but I'd give it a solid 8-8.5. It was like Zelda, but a little dumbed down. It was still 90% Zelda with some other mechanics added in, which led it to be a pretty damn fun game. The story and final boss were shit though.
wait wait wait, bosses? zelda? i didnt even know neopets had a video game!! what kind of messed up game is this?

hehe, somewhere out there on the internet theres a small group of neopets who want me dead cos i havent fed them for several years lol
Don't be fooled by the other Neopets games on the market. I know it started as a stupid browser game for kids, but using the characters and universe, they made a half-way decent Zelda clone. I had a lot of fun with it and I get all excited when I see a new Neopets game announced, but it's never another Zelda clone. I have to be careful to not hype myself up and buy a shitty puzzle game because it bears the same franchise name as the clone.

EDIT: Especially don't be fooled by the Neopets game on the PSP. It was another gimped clone, but instead of Zelda, it was Untold Legends. Untold Legends was a passable hack-and-slash game, but dumbing that down didn't leave me with a very pleasurable experience. On the other hand, they made Dungeon Siege for the PSP and that was like a version of Untold Legends on crack. LOTS more fun.

Resident Evil 4. On paper, playing a 20 hour long escort mission sounds like hell on earth but due to some great Ai (as well as a host of other great choices) it turned out to be one of the greatest games of the last console cycle.

Im kinda mad it didnt get a 2nd game, maybe it would've been better.

As a concept, I thought Kingdom Hearts would be terrible. Turns out it's one of the most beloved RPGs of the last decade.

Practice shooting the enemies in the head or just below the knee as it lets you do a melee attack if you get close to them (your invinceble while doing the move) after there on the ground if there still ticking get right next to them and slash at them with the knife. Early on in the game you can get through most encounters only using a single round per enemy. Also the smg can also pull off the stagger moves above so if you only fire a bullet or two then you should have all the ammo you need for the regular enemies.

Yoshi's Story.

There's something oddly playable about it, assuming I mute it at the end of the level so the singing doesnt make me feel so embarrased to play it.

The entire trading-simulation genre that I love so much.

"Wait. You mean you basically pull up an Excel spreadsheet, buy pretend goods, then go pull up another sheet and sell the pretend goods and try to make a profit? That sounds like a boring office job!"

Yet games like Patrician 3, Port Royale 2, and their cousins the city-builders are awesome and I love them one and all.

Silent Hill Homecoming, I don't care what anyone says, I still loved it. (even though it wasn't particularly scary.)

I would say the original Resident Evils (before 4 changed the game up).

Horrible controls, writing, story.. but still awesome.
Oh yeah, this wins. Loved that game back then. Love it now.

Great to see all the love for Pokemon Snap. I love that game even though I 1st played it when I was in my teens and its one of the few games I bought through WiiWare. If they made a Wii sequal with a couple of free-roaming environments and updated graphics I swear it'd sell by the truckload.
