The BEST DRM ever.

The team behind Serious Sam 3 BFE, Croteam, has decided to put DRM into their game. Not in the way you think though. See, instead of putting in constant online connection or requiring a third party program or some other non-sense they decided on a more creative way to punish Pirates.


What do you think of such a measure? Would it put much of a dent into pirating the game or do you think someone will, eventually, find a way around it?

Either way, it's pretty damn creative and awesome. Kudos Croteam.

I think more people might pirate it just to see what the fuss is about. Even downloads from legitimate customers. And someone might even make a survival mode mod based on the pink unkillable scorpion with machine gun hands. So, yeah, funny, but at the end of the day as effective as most DRM.

So, the developers made a version with an unkillable red insect that will kill you and put it on ThePirateBay?

Don't think they released it themselves, it's more of a preventative measure. Probably does a check if the game is legit with their servers and if it isn't it spawns that mob, otherwise you'll never see it. No idea if that's true though since they, obviously, wouldn't say anything about it.

OT: it's okay i guess , nothing that won't be fixed by pirates. I don't support them , just stating a fact . Can this even be called DRM? anyways , what i think developpers should do is , pretend to be a pirate ( yeah go incognito ) upload a version of theor game BEFORE it was tested for bugs and shit , add some kind of virus , and watch pirates crash an burn .

Fight fire with fire , preemptive strike win most battles.

Also if you think about it they are also following the trend of punishing their paying fans by not giving them the chance to be hunted down by a bad trip come to life. I would have gotten Serious Sam 3 but the whole series just aren't my type of games.
