Since polls only have 8 options i cannot make a poll on this but anyway lets get to the point. There have been many Final Fantasy games so far, the series extends as far back as the late 1980's and has left its mark on the industry as one of the most succesful RPG franches ever, it has had the main order of games from I to XIII so far and spin offs like the PSP games and X-2.

So which of these games is your favourite, what is it you liked about the game and who were your favourite characters?

My favourite personally so far would have to be Final Fantasy X, since it had a collection of everything that was good in a game at the time; Great Story, Great Graphics, Great Gameplay, Great Characters and memorable moments and it has left the biggest mark on the childhood in terms of FF games. Auron was my favourite character, he was just so badass and powerful there was no way i couldn't like him and ofcourse is role in the game is brilliant.

I haven't completed XIII yet, i'm at Chapter 9 at the moment but so far i am thouroughly enjoying it, despite its differences to past games and its slowly becoming one of my favourites in the series.
XII really dissapointed me and i never completed it, it just really, really sucked.

Too lazy to write out my answer so I'll just quote what i said in an older thread.

In no specific order, the best ones out off all the games I've played:

4 because it's a classic representation of not only an old school RPG, but an FF game as well. It just sticks to you and it really feels like one of those childhood stories you grew up with. You just get a sense of nostalgia from playing it, even for the very first time.

2 had one of my favorite character progression systems and farily simple yet satisfying story. The progression system had a few kinks in it and wasn't perfect, but it's concept was brilliant. Hell I when I first played it I never once abused the system and I beat it, which is a task I bet most people have never accomplished when it comes to playing this game.

6 is the prime example of what an FF game should be with the best story in the numerical games. A great and meaningful cast, and one of my favorite villains in gaming. The story was great and had tons of memorable moments, and never straddled in insane ville like some of the later games.

7 is second to 6 with a great story and villain as well. I liked it for all the reasons I like 6 really, and the game has taken far too much flak of the years due to stupid fans and ignorant haters. The game is overrated yes, but that doesn't stop it from being good and having one of the deepest protagonists and Villain (before AC ruined them) in the franchise.

9 I have not played all the way through, but I am certain I will end up enjoying msot of it seeing as it's a throwback to the originals.

X was hit and miss but enjoyable none the less. The underlying plot and the world was great, and even though it was bogged down with some stupid characters and a few tangents, it still remained enjoyable.

Tactics: War of the Lions hits up there with 6 and 7 as having one of the best stories in the series and it shows. The gameplay is unparalleled as well with the most perfected job system in the series.

Crisis Core is the only good thing it come out of the FF7 anthology and I loved it. It was a great and very personal game as you followed Zack to his end. It really shined light one an important and yet underplayed character in FF7, and he turned out to be one of the best characters in the franchise.

Dissidia just plain kicks ass. It's fun, it's deep, it's an FF fans wet dream and SE really outdid themselves. One fo the best fighting games I have ever played and it still continues to be fun even a year later of continuous play. Such a unique fighter and even with the FF stuff stripped away, it still manages to be an awesome fighter that stands on it's own without the FF label.

The first. Funny enough I had this conversation yesterday and picked up the PSP remake on the cheap because of it. The original Final Fantasy will most likely always be my favorite because it's certainly a game rather than a story. The difficulty is excellent as it makes you fight for every single gil you earn. You have to be smart about your decisions tactically as you tend to have very little until late in the game. Grinding isn't terribly appealing, but if you play with a level head you can dodge that bullet for the most part. Overall it was a challenging experience for me when I was younger and still is today. Sometimes less really is more.

And you just contributed to that number. Well done.

OT: Tactics, then again I really don't like Final fantasy, and I really only liked this one because it kinda reminded me of X-Com with knights and monsters instead of spesh mehreens and aliens.

It's definitely a tie between VI and IX. I'm much further along in IX but it made me rage hard so I have to leave it for a while. I'm not as far in VI but I am enjoying it just as much as I enjoyed IX.

Tactics is the only Final Fantasy game I've found to be truly flawless. I quite enjoy nearly all of the mainline titles, but none of them measure up. Hell, none of them even come close, really. This isn't to say any of them are bad games (though I never liked FFII, with its weird stat system), it's just that Tactics is so much better than everything else.

I don't care what the fashionable opinion is, to me FFXII and FFXIII were the absolute best. I loved the gameplay, the scenery and the story.

I'm not just conforming to the majority here, but I really do think that Final Fantasy VII is the best in the series. And that's not nostalgia speaking; I played it very recently. The translation is bad, and the graphics have aged poorly, but the underlying story and gameplay is just awesome.
