Besides diving off of something into the abyss (spiky or normal) I like poking something I shouldn't piss off, like swimming up to the crocodiles in Snake Eater. I did it once because I was expressly told not to -- holy crap! They spun me around like a doll. Most of my grenade suicides are more accurately classed as 'accidental deaths'.

Mercenaries 2 has all sorts of hilarious ways to off yourself.
For instance, stand on top of a skyscraper. Call in a MOAB on top of yourself.
Survive the explosion, die when you hit the floor because the building didn't.

Turn friendly fire on, have 4 teammates place all their C4(oh and dont forget about claymores too) in a circle around you, then everyone (including yourself) throws a grenade at you, and ka-boom.

Oh man, CoD2, multi player. We'd get groups of 20 students playing in a room and I earned a rep for throwing myself on grenades to "protect my team." Of course, it didn't work, just killed me. It was hilarious, though, the grenade indicator came up and I ran for it! Boom!
F-Zero - When you're in the final lap, about to cross the finish line (preferably if you're well in the lead), boost until all your energy is gone, then ram the side of your car when you're a second or two away from the finish line. Your broken car will bounce and slide along the side of the road, and just before it explodes, it'll slide across the finish line and you'll win.
In GTA 4 flying a helicopter towards one of the islands, I decided to jump and land in the water and swim to shore, but for some reason the in game physics kept me moving forward after jumping so I landed quite a ways inland.
Depending on a games Physics, simply firing a rocket launcher at a wall less then a foot away can be hilarious. Although that failing, the old hold a grenade can be a laugh. But a favorite way to die, suicide or not in COD4 is simply to jump when I were a claymore click, and you get propelled forward in the air, arms and legs just flailing in the air.
