Wild Guns for the SNES. It was a mix of cowboy music and futuristic music.
I'll prove it!

I have the whole soundtrack on my Ipod.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot about the Ace Attorney series. They did an orchestration on it.

Zelda OoT, Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Halo 3. Also the soundtrack to HL2 Episode Two was good.

I really liked the score from the Halo series, I've even got the Halo 3 theme on my iPod. The Devil May Cry music always set the ass-kicking, sword slicing, gun slinging mood quite well also.

Crysis Warhead's hovercraft chase theme is definitely a good one, especially considering the first Crysis had such lousy music. They've certainly improved in that aspect. Now graphics... It seems like they actually got worse.

The original Call of Duty had an amazing soundtrack. There were so many pieces that set the mood perfectly, like the defense of Pegasus Bridge or the suicide run at Red Square.

That station alone makes it the game with the best music, but the Electronica station is really good too.

If we're only talking about original game music, then I'd probably say the music from The Witcher or a game with music by Jeremy Soule (Oblivion, Total Annihilation, Dawn of War to but name a few), or possibly the Hitman games with music by Jesper Kyd.

I would say Metroid, PSO has music that really fits each area and the enemies you fight. Castlevania both Circle of the Moon, and Curse of Darkness have great soundtracks. Also, although I didn't care for most of the tracks, NFL street 2 had a couple really awesome tracks.

I thought the soundtracks to the Oddworld games were really good, particularly the first two.

It's not my favorite game but the Halo Theme REALLY gets my blood pumping in the dramatic scenes when it kicks in.

My personal favorite Game Soundtracks are Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy XII though.
