Hello fellow Escapists. Who do you think are the greatest one-hit wonders? (I understand this is depending on where you live, one band could be huge in America and unheard of in the UK).

Personally, my favourites are Autograph - Turn up the radio and Uncle Kracker - Follow me.

Video Killed The Radio Star, I never listened to the guys who made it before or since, but they made a good song.

Anyone remember this one? I believe they were quickly forgotten after this classic:

Safety Dance - Men Without Hats.

Maybe they would've been more popular if they did wear hats, because if you do, you are clearly better for it.

The dude from that group (The Buggles) went on to be lead singer of Yes (albeit very briefly) and do a lot of work in the music industry as a producer.

The chick...no idea.

Pretty much that though. It's a good song, that irritates me with its inane catchiness.

I liked Bowling For Soups better in my opinion. And my vote is for Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby

Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta for sure

When they were around, watching interviews with them was hilarious in hindsight, because the only thing they ever said was "We totally have other songs.. they're just as good as that one even.. Everyone just wants us to play Flagpole Sitta, but really, we're a little sick of it.. WE HAVE OTHER SONGS PEOPLE!"

They saw what was happening to them, and it was just hilarious to see them so obviously so pissed off at being a one hit wonder..

Incidentally, Barenaked Ladies (Not a one hit wonder) wrote a song about being a one hit wonder called Box Set

Kindly ignore the fact that Stephen Page is dressed up like a clown.

Thanks for that, for real.
It's nice to learn new things.

Have you heard Bowling for Soup singing this? It is epic.
Bowling For Soup hardly has one hit that popular.. They're basically No Hit Wonders, like Gob.

Nothing against them.. but both those bands only really have cult followings despite being totally awesome, and having actual music videos.

I really like them both though, but it's a sad state of affair

Hard to call this a hit, but I certainly remembers it.
